Autocom are the best in thier field. Systems start at around £150 I belive for rider to pillion.
Expensive, but you pay for what you get. ____________________ TheShaggyDA: I've got 3 or 4 pairs that predate my wife, so at least 11.5 years old. |

Hey AJ, I posted a similar question to this one a while back and didnt get the best response. Tended to get the same pillion/rider answers. My intention was to get something so my mate in his car could talk to me on the bike when cruising together.. You have to make exceptions when ya mates dont have bikes
Anyway, what I did was pick up a couple of hand helf uhf radios. 1.5 watt seem to work well( couple of blocks range in built up area) , not sure how effective 0.5 watts would be unless side by side only. Also picked up off ebay a throat mic (kinda like the spy ones that sit on your neck and pick up vibrations. That way it isnt effected by wind noise like a few complaints that I'd heard about normal ones .
Oh you wanna make sure you get a handset that has vox ...voice operated. This saves you having to push the button to talk. Also helpful if the vox is able to have the sensitivity changed. As I was testing them I found it activated when rubbing against my jacket collar and would keep the line open and making it impossible for my mate to talk back to me. They operate half duplex style. Meaning while you are talking you cant receive at the same time . You just turn it down a little and the rubbing seems to have no effect then.
Have worked real well thus far. Have only been upto about 90kms yet and haven't had any wind probs.
Good luck with it |
