Unmarked Police - new twist?

Bimbling along the A5 today I was passed by a couple of other bikes. Now I was doing about 60-65, NSL wide single carriageway, not especially twisty or anything, nice big yellow BMW trailie & a Ninja (couldn't see what size but it was definitely Kawasaki green!) go past, nothing coming the other way, gave me plenty of room, doing maybe 10mph more than me?

Few minutes later I'm passed again, narrower bit of road, biker is much closer to me & cuts in right in front of me, looks like a Pan European maybe cos it's got 2 big panniers on it. All 3 of them overtake a car some way in front of me (safely, and still no speeds that I would call excessive) and go down a sort of dip in the road taking them out of my sight. As they disappear, I think I see a blue flash. Bugger, I think, must be a car or a camera up ahead, better slow down a bit, so I drop to about 55.

As I get level, I see that the 3rd guy is actually a Police bike, and his panniers are now flashing blue as he has pulled the other 2 bikes over. Can't tell if he gave them a ticket or anything as they were still taking helmets off as I passed (they really weren't going that fast, and they certainly weren't riding dangerously).

T'other half says he guessed it might be a police bike cos although the bike was black & had no markings, the guy was wearing a white helmet. We flashed a few bikes coming in the opposite direction, just in case.

Is this a new phenomonon, or have there been unmarked bikes up there for a while? I don't usually go that far "in" to Wales (tend to stick to the coast) so I wasn't sure.

May seem a bit OTT but I'm always wary of folk who wear white helmets...

There's plenty of unmarked bikes around in this area.

Sussex mainly have Pan Europeans/BMW's but also have got a Suzuki GSXR 1000 (marked up, but cannot see them from the front/rear), Honda CB250's, off road style bikes.

if u actually pay attention and look out for cozzers you will see there are actually loads.
most of the time the dont have time to pull over a bike speeding a bit.
i was doing about 95ish on the motorway and see a car comming up behind me, i pull over to the middle lane to see 2 undercover cozzers in there.

l think l sort a police scooter last week in hayes.

the rider had a white lid with the normal police black leathers with a flouersent jacket, and was writing out a ticket for a 4X4 driver which it looked like he had pulled over.

One of my riding instructors used to wear a white helmet, flourecent coat and black leather trousers. One time I was going to a lesson a bit hotter than I should of been up a 30 zone and I saw him in the peeler gear standing outside a petrol station, was relieved once it was him!

up here in the north of scotland the inverness cops have a black bird i met the rider once he was a sound enough bloke offered me a lift when i ran out of petrol didnt half wait about. they aint shy when they are driving.
