Yamaha XJ Diversion 600 s

Guys and Gals,

I passed my DAS last week so I am on the hunt for a bigger (but not too big!) bike.

I have found a 1996 XJ Diversion 600 s.

21k miles

It will have 12 months T&T on it.

Datataged etc

£1000 ono

I'm taking it for a test ride tonight.

Other than if it is worth the dosh, any owners/ex-owners of these on here that want to pass on so wise words of things to look for/inherant problems with them.

Hi

Hopefully Danny will see this as he had one for a while.

Top speed of 125~130. Have an occasional habit of burning holes in pistons. Monoshock ones wreck the linkages as nobody bothers to grease them.

Nice enough stable old sports bike.

Issue really is just finding a nice one.

I went to look at it last night and it wasn't pretty.
Fairing had started to rust, swing arm was in porr nick and it sounded like a bag of nails.

Not gone for it.

Going to look at an XJ Diversion 600 s tonight, which sounds a lot more promising.

Anyone have opinions on these?

I bought a xj600s diversion 1997 for £1000.

21K on the clock, everything seems to be in order, a few minor scratches

Only had a quick spin on it and it seems very nice, smooth and powerful enough.

when i was looking most 1997+ were going for about £1250+.

Just have a good look, don't buy anything ur not 95% happy with!

Well I had a good look over it and it is in very very good condition.
12 months mot which is always reassuring and it rode very nicely.
For £1000 I dont think I could ask for much more.

So i have left a deposit and will be picking it up in a day or 2!

Officially a proper biker now, wahoo!

Hi

Had a 600 Diversion. Mine was M reg (M106RKR I think). Never real pushed it to top speed.

Nice enough bike for cruising down a motorway. Copes round town but not fun on back roads. Brakes acceptable. Stupid vacuum fuel pump (which is so ineffective that it is not unusual to kill the battery cranking the engine over before getting enough fuel through to the carbs to start the engine from empty). Build quality is OK (better than a Bandit). Quite simple bikes.

I think I paid £800 for mine with about 42k on the clocks in pretty good condition, with a rack / top box. Got bored of it though and replaced it with an old FZR600 for commuting.
