As Jo has decided to boast about her insurance renewal for this year, here is a list of useful insurers and their numbers and the quotes I had from them this year.
For a 22 year old female, three years ncb, with a brick garage.
DNA Insurance ~ 0870 7519 999
TPFT -> £219.20
Inc. TPO cover on any other bike, Legal Cover, and 30 days green card/European Cover.
MCE ~ 0870 9090996
TPFT -> £156.25
Fully Comp -> £450 (ish)
Inc. TPO cover on any other bike, legal cover.
Elite ~ 0870 4204004
I was left on hole with over 20 minutes... I gave up!
Carol Nash ~ 0800 2985500
TPFT -> £203 (ex. £250)
FC -> £406 (ex. £100)
Inc. Uk & European Breakdown cover, Legal cover, TPO on any other bike, 60 days foreign legal cover, and green card.
Devitt DA ~ 0800 200369
TPFT -> £274.11 (ex. £250)
FC -> £501.29 (ex. £400)
Legal cover an extra £20
CIS ~ 08457 464646
Would quote for TPO only!
TPO -> £582.63
I just laughed.
I hope these are some help to someone. It is always worth ringing a company back and letting then know you have had a better quote somewhere else. They will lower their original offer usually. ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!

did you not try direct choice? I have found they are pretty cheap. Although Carol Nash do seem to be the cheapest around for us early 20's.

Nope. You got my favourite:
Carole Nash
FC: £183.71
(This is for two bikes, both 400cc - one classic, one modern)
Excess: £25 (CB 400/4)
£100 (CBR 400)
Incl: UK/Europe Breakdown and Recovery
Uninsured Loss legal protection
Helpline never closes
btw, I'm female, 39, with at least five years no-claims and garage. Can I be smug too? |

Anna...you're young, you're CIA's target customer (so it seems), give them a quote to beat and 9 times out of ten, they'll beat it. They seem to work with whatever quote they give you, they don't expect you to take the first quote. really.
I'm only 20, no ncb, restricted license, brick garage and pay just under £750 TPFT....and I didn't even haggle with that price (I changed bike halfway through policy)
With my first 125, they quoted me £550+ TPO....I then got back to them saying "motorcycle direct" gave me £280 TPO...5 mins on hold and they re-quoted £230 TPO. That was when I was 17...just make up a quote. I didn't really phone motorcycle direct at all. |

They was around £6-700 cheaper than average (oh, i've also got a lot of extra ink on my licence ) ____________________ 04 ZX10R ~ |

I got my insurance through T G Webster in the end, but in a bit of a weird situation.
I'm 26, hadn't ridden a bike for 3 years, and the lowest quote I'd eventually gotten elsewhere for an old CBR600, was 280ish TPO from Carole Nash.
T G Webster had an advert where they said they'd take car ncb into account, of which I have 8 years worth (never had a crash... ). So basically, they halved their quote, giving me the equivalent of 5 years no claims. Ended up being £215 TPO, with the same "extras" as the other quotes I'd had.
Only would really help anyone in the same sort of situation.....
Cheers |
