hi all, im thinking of changing my tyres soon on my 600RR-5
what do you all think of Michelin hi sports??

Nooooooooo !!! Don't do it, they're not nicknamed hi-sides for nothing. These came as OE on the 98 and 99 Blades and are bloody lethal in the wet and not much better in the dry. There's better tyres out there.

Never liked michelin, maybe it's the french thing but meh.

Bridgestone and dunlop are my friends, they like you too.

On the Blade, I've run BT010s, D207RRs and Pirelli Diablos, they are all cracking tyres with more grip than I'll ever need but I have to say that the Dunlops have the nicest 'feel' for me. I have more confidence in them than the other two. Lifetime may soon come into play though as they seem to be wearing fairly fast.

at the mo i have got dunlop 218's on they are ok but i want something more sticky'er

Ok milage? Don't know how slow you rode, but these were down to the wear markers after 4,500km on a restricted 125.....

I use Pirelie Diablo's and would recomend them to anybody, as they have excelent grip, are good in the wet and last a decent amount of miles.

I did have a go of the Diablo Corsa'a but found them to be too soft for the road but would use them on Track Days

My Diablo Corsa's only lasted 2500 miles on the road

I'd second (or third) the recommendation for the Pirelli Diablo's, had them on the busa, awesome amounts of grip (once warmed up, they didn't take to kindly to having full throttle being applied when cold), busa used to eat them for breakfast though (one pair lasted under 600 miles). Just about to put a pair on the R6.

Tyres change, even when the name does not, and different tyres suit different bikes.

My Bimota came with a set of Michelin Hi Sports, the original style ones. I wanted some newer tyres for the Bimota and stuck on some D207RRs (incidently, not nice at all on the very firmly sprung Bimota in the wet), and put the half worn Michelins on the Bandit. Loved them on the Bandit.

It may well be a bike specific thing but I found Hi-Sports to be horrible on the Blade. I remember one wet ride home from work, there's an off camber tightening exit off one of the roundabouts on my daily commute, I experienced a two wheel drift round it that was completely unprovoked. I was basically a passenger until the slide stopped, fortunately, it did.

I find rentecs, diablo corsas etc to be overkill for the road, they are too soft and can actually work less well than the diablos or 010s as they require more heat to work properly. They're perfect for trackdays and, if you actually need them for the road, it's probably going to be your license that wears out before the tyres
