Hello there!

Passed my test on wednesday and am the proud owner of a Suzuki Bandit 600. I have a few questions which may seem a little silly, especially this one . .

What is the best way to clean a bike? What kind of products are good for this? and is there anything that i shouldnt use to clean my bike?

Also, how often should i check the oil? How often should i get it serviced? When should i adjust the chain? lol i know i have alot of questions but i really want to keep this bike in the condition its in now i.e Mint.

Anyways, not asking for an essay or anything, but thsi info would be VERY useful to me Smile

Thanks guys

Sam (Newbie Biker)

any old petrol station car shampoo is fine for cleaning it WD40 for the wheel rims/mucky frame (do not apply to the brake disks/callipers or tyres)

Check the oil level every week or two with the bike on its centre stand or with someone holding it up right, the oil should be between the two lines on the oil sight glass which is located on the right hand side of the bike or on some bikes the oil can be checked with a dip stick located on the right and side of the bike also the oil should be between the two lines on the dip stick. top up with semi sysfentic 10w40 oil if needed (can be best to change the oil completey if you do not know what type of oil is allredy in there)

Change the oil every 3,000 miles as well as the oil filter. (semi sysfentic 10w40 oil)

adjust the chain every 200-500 miles if it has become slack, the chain should be just able to touch the underneath of the swingarm with a little pressure. Also oil the chain every 200 miles with either chain lube or chain wax.
