Flippin heck can you believe that !!?

My Fiance, God love him, has just been calling round for Insurance for our 2 new bikes.
If it were me, I would have called 2/3..picked the best...paid it. Embarassed

He called about 20, and for his VTR it ranged for TPFT£900!!! to £395..and for my FZR600 £500+ to £195 !!
Of course, we stuck for the latter on both accounts.

How ridiculous is that!?
From over 1400 to under 600 for both bikes.
How DO they do it Shocked

(Oh, and just to add..all details were checked..garage..ground anchor, excess..it seems that these people just make up prices !! One company claimed £350 for my bike..told them someone else offered 265...wait..oh yes..we can match that!) Thumbs Down

You do get some silly quotes, when I was ringing round one company quoted me £2400 - thats TPFT on a ZX-6R. I eventually paid less than £400.

What company was it with? I hedge my bets it was with MC Direct. Mr. Green

Not sure why, because MC Direct were cheap for me. £100 cheaper than Bennets for better cover.

All the best

MC Direct just seem to be a very cheap company, will never forget my £307 TPFT shocker at 17 with a Bandit. Mr. Green

MC Direct are cheap, my current account with them was £340TPFT on Aprilia RS125! And they quoted me £1104 TPFT with the R6, but taking the Carole Nash offer of £1067..

The rest of the companies were quoting me £3690, £4000, £3840 and not even quoting me at such a young age. How can these quotes be so different when most of the companies are 'independant advisories'? what a load of bollox if you ask me!

Hi

Ebike seem to be quite cheap as well, and you can do any policy adjustements on line (such as adding another bike).

All the best

not when they quote an extra 180 notes for 9 months of cover to swap to a bike thats 4 groups less, 25hp less, 45lbft torque less, and £1000 less in value....how does that work????

you all have to get this grouping illusion that the press feeds you out of your head. we have two areas that are like that at RBS. our grouping system (which works on 1-100, not 1-20) and also sequencing (hot hatch, hot hatch 2, etc...)

also it will go on things like theft IN YOUR AREA, and also rarity and cost of minor repair work. eg: an older grey import 400 maybe cheaper and in a lower grouping than a newer official import. however, parts would have to be shipped in and cost more. also harder to obtain. so the older bike would get a higher premium.

The reason companies vary so differenty is because we all have target audiences (eg: RBS Royalties targets middle aged snotty aristocrats more than any other group) and will give that audience better prems. and there is also something called greed. if someone offered you £300 for somethin that costs £150. you'd take it. same principal. people will pay the higher premium quite often without even trying to knock it down. so they will charge it. it makes em more money.
