Well, it's been a long time! After having a hack of a bike for two years and spending every minute on the bike commuting. Then having the accident a few months back I think I'm finally beginning to enjoy biking again.

Hopped on the bandit this evening and decided to go for a spin and get lost. Didn't go too far, but just blatted round on country lanes taking random turns when I came to junctions, roundabouts etc... I came home really pleased and really enjoyed.

Anyone live near Hitchin (Hertfordshire) know of some good roads for me to try? I want to get my confidence back big time and perhaps try a track day or two!!

Thanks peeps Smile

I'm a new boy here, but am fairly local to you(Hatfield)
Best roads in my opinion:
Hitchin to Coddicote.
Baldock to Buntingford.
Hatfield to St.Albans(Coopers Green Lane)
A4146 to Leighton Buzzard.
The roads around Dunstable downs.

Have fun and look out for me riding my T reg SRAD 600 like a big girl up and down those roads.

I live just off coopers green lane, and frequent the roads that you just mentioned, also riding like a pansy Embarassed

There are some great rides around this area, Potters Bar- Essendon-Hertford is another nice one. Thumbs Up (B157 or sumtin like that)

I still get my best kicks riding around the T-Mobile HQ on the new business park in (s)hatfield at about 17.30 Mon-Fri. The whole estate and surrounding roads just become gridlock. Excellent filtering practise and cager baiting.... Mr. Green

Ever fancy a rideout, give us a shout. I work nights and can do any afternoon/evenings and most weekends.

I'm on a greeny/bluey Bandit 600, with a dodgy front headlight assembly. Need to replace it soon with a nice dual lamp set. Very Happy

Good roads in Hertfordshire... I live in St. Albans, and fairly regularly ride up towards Harpenden (not a great road, but smooth enough, with the occasional bend), and more often than not carry it on towards Luton, as I used to work there.

I also seem to always end up in WelwynGC/Hatfield whenever I do the "random turn" ride myself. Always find myself at that giant roundabout with the Tescos on it..... Had a kid on a scooter try and race me away from the lights there the other day, I'm on an '89 CBR600 by the way....

Been looking for a decent ride myself, but I do quite enjoy the "getting lost" method of planning a journey.....

The A507 Baldock to Buntingford is worth a run, and you can hit the A10 and have a cuppa at the siver Ball cafe as well (bike friendly). Me and Bonny_Ricardo have had a few trips up there and will be in the near future if anyone wants to tag along.

Didnt know you were so local lad, give me a pm sometime and we can go for a blast. Im in stevenage, jono (ACER) live in welwyn.

As Acer says, A507 is beaut, lots of visibility, a few straights, plenty of corners and s bends. All in all a nice blat, only 3-4 miles long mind. But its en route to the silver ball cafe, which is a good bike meet, and the roads there are none too shabby (long as you like speeding on the stupidly long straights hehe)

Sounds like there is quite a crew in the local area.
I may ride like a big girl, but if it's not raining i'm always up for a blast round the B roads.
My tyres are going square from commuting and are begging me for a bend.

Well, I think that we should arrange something! I'm moving back to London in a few weeks so need to have a nice blast before I get caught up in all that congestion!

Anyone up for a burn this Sunday perhaps?
