Hi just bought a Kawasaki zxr 400L and want to put some crash bobbins on it just in case of a little accident Rolling Eyes . The only thing is I don’t know weather you can just fit them to the frame or weather I have to buy them then take them to a garage to be fit. Also any good ideas of which ones to choose based on reliability and cost, I would ratter pay a little bit extra to save my bike. Thumbs Up

Been wondering whether to put some of these on the ZXR. Place where I bought the bike from said that they could fix them (however labour is free for the first service so'd prob. normally be more) for £60.00. Not sure if thats a good price though.

Think they're worth it as long as they are fixed onto the frame properly and you get a decent make. I've heard that some can do more damage than good. Also theres the problem if you have to make a hole in the fairing for them that you could crack the fairing unless your careful when cutting.

You don't have to cut the fairing on the ZXR400L, so that's not a problem. Got R&G's on mine but they're real short! Not sure how effective they'd be. Rolling Eyes

R&G - tested and approved by me Thumbs Up Wink

Don't pay somebody to fit them - £60 is taking the piss. If you don't have to drill the fairing (I did on one side on my bike) it's a five minute job.

R&Gs are always the way to go.

The only others I've seen that are any good are the Rhencullen ones for the 98-02 R6.

Not for Blades they're not (up to 99 anyway) as R&G make you cut the fairing. Rhencullen ones (make by Bike Design) are better in that they are on brackets and the fairing doesn't need to be cut.

www.rhencullen.co.uk

The other bonus of this design is that there is a rod that goes behind the downpipes to connect the two together, this acts like a shock absorber as the brackets flex and, in a big crash, this could save your frame mounts. They're not cheap, at £107, but how much is a replacement set of side panels.

I've tested them too and they saved me a lot of money, it would have been more if the bike hadn't decided to slide up a kerb.

Cheers

Grim

I had R&Gs on my ZX-6R J2, which the dealer fitted before I collected it.

I am waiting for an upper set to arrive for my 04 R1. I have already fitted R&G swingarm bobbins and may fit the lower crash protectors too.

R&G always for me.
