Am aking about this for a friend at work.

He has a ZZR600 its on a H plate, so i reckon its 1990.

He says that the brakes are not so good (pads are fine),

He's wondering if there are any brakes from newer bikes that would be better on his bike ? Or do you think braided hoses would improve it much ?

Cheers

JP

Hi

The brakes should be fine. Kawasaki used those calipers for years. Braided lines might help if the brake lines have aged.

The ones on Charlottes ZZR have plenty of power (way too much lever travel though), so I suspect that at most he would need to swap the pads for some better ones.

Also worth checking the seals, or stripping the front calipers and cleaning them up thoroughly.

All the best

Keith

Get a new set braided hoses, and get some lovely carbon lorraine brake pads. Does wonders for old brakes-like my old FZ750's. Went from spongey and weak to reasonably precise and adequately powerful.

May also be worth considering a rebuild of tth master cylinder.
