Had the option of buying a '05' mito today for £2250. All the Panels had been resprayed/tocuhed up except for the petrol tank. Decided to walk away as it all seemed to cheap and iffy. Apparantely it was knocked over but I wasn't convinced that was a true story. Was HPI clear though. Did I do the right thing or should I have taken a gamble?

If it had been knocked over why had all the panels been done? Hmmm seems a bit iffy.

Regardless, you did the right thing, if you were not happy with it before you bought it just think what you would be like if you had payed the cash for it.

2 and a quarter grand is a lot of money not to be 99% sure about buying a bike
IMO you did the right thing

Personally, I would of done the same thing. A brand new mito which has been crashed/dropped/hit whatever happened, can only suggest a few things about the current owner. Too much money to take a gamble.

If you're looking at bikes around that price range, you're much better off finding a used RS/Mito from a reputable dealer. That way you've got that reassurance that its a decent bike, and if its not decent, theres always warranty. Thumbs Up

Finding a reputable dealer is pretty hard.

Warranties often are useful if you've run out of toilet paper - ok, if it's a good dealer you should be ok, though in my experience the good dealers do charge that bit more.

It's quite possible that the bike was dropped/crashed and is still in pretty good nick, but I would want to thoroughly check over all the mechanical stuff - or get someone who knows what they're looking for to do so.

I am no expert but i reckon with 2stroke 125's they get dropped by learners at low speed (im guilty) and its only the fairings which get damaged. Ok so its been resprayed but if you like the colour there isnt necessarily anything wrong with it. If you dont like the colour or the quality of the respray then dont get it.

seems a good price to me too.

If you just spray one panel and the paint is not a perfect match it can look a bit crap so i guess they sprayed them all to avoid that problem.

I may well do the same with my bike as its got a few scratches.

Instinct. 9/10 times is right. If something doesn't feel right, it usually isn't!

There's always other bikes. You did the right thing.

I've generally found if I don't go with the little voice in my head, I make a mistake. My only worry is when they lock me up for arguing out loud with the little voice in my head!!

The little voice in my trousers causes me problems too!! Rolling Eyes I keep listening to that one, and now I'm in all sorts of trouble!
