If you wanted you could get a Honda hornet restricted to 33bhp for 2 years after passing your practical test, instead of bieng on the 125 for 2 years. Not sure about the insurance on that though.

Your looking at a top speed of about 110 mph. It costs about £150 for the restriction kit. Once you pass your test you can travel on motorways, carry pillion passengers and not wear L's .

Depending on where you live your insurance could well be around the same of your car (definately within the grand region).

it be cheaper getting something else
honda bros 400, suzukie goose 350 there both 33bhp naturally. Or an ER 5, gs500

they should be alot cheaper than a hornet.

The car no claims dont count i am afraid, (99.9% positive anyways) and vice versa for bikes onto cars. Annoying cause i had 2 years on bikes when i got my first car, but they didnt care. Well thats the official line, they probably do take it into account.

My insurance on a Honda CBR600F with 1 year no claims on bikes and a full license at 17 was £1100 TPFT.

At 18, your probably lookin at around £1000 TPFT, maybe even a bit more if you not in a great area and without NCB.

One thing to note, the insurance companies do not care about the 33BHP restrictor when it comes to quoting insurance, for some reason all the companies i rang and tried to say 'but its only got a third of its power cause of restrictor' werent interested. Said that they didnt take that into account.
