There i was screwing my nsr (No L's) down a dual c/way at abou 80 Wink
a long cue of traffic turning right which i needed to turn aswell.
nice bike space at the front of a transit van at the lights,
continued screwing it to the front and slam on brakes & tuck in.
waiting for lights to change look to my right theres mr plod on bike staring at me and shaking his head. :o
i slowly sunk my head into my petrol tank as he lifted his visor to talk. Embarassed
"nice bike M8 what is it a 250-400?"
"err 250 (no L's showing)" Rolling Eyes
"Take it a bit easier you dont want to damage all that shiny bodywork"
"err yes officer, sorry officer"
and off he went after the lights changed.

Hi

Best one happened to someone I know about 15 years ago, around Bangor. A few weeks after their car test the guy was driving back from a night out, not particularly sober. Going down a lane there was a car stopped on the other side of the road with its headlights on full beam. He just aimed to the left of it, and as he passed it just noticed a red torch jump into the hedge. At this point he tried to get away (in a 1L Nova!), getting chased by an XR4 and a 2.8 Capri (Northern Ireland, cars used at the time by traffic). He even tried going the wrong way down a dual carraigeway.

Eventually they stop him, drag him out of the car and throw him over the bonnet with guns drawn.

Total result for failing to stop, driving the wrong way down a dual carraigeway, etc, was that he got a 6 month extension on his R plates (for a year after your test in NI you are meant to wear orange R plates, signifying that you are not meant to do more than 45mph)

All the best

Keith

Best encounter I've had with the babylon was about a month after I first got the RVF. I was riding to work, and it was a totally lovely day, after about 2 weeks of really shit weather.

So I come to a nice big roundabout on the A316 and seeing as it was practically empty did a few laps around it. On the last one I was lining myself up to exit the roundabout onto the long straight which I also saw on the last lap was pretty much empty so I gave it a big handful of throttle and cranked it over a bit more, which caused the peg to hit the ground sprouting a rather nice shower of sparks. I was well pleased with myself and kept it on the floor right till the exit, where horror of horrors a local cop car had parked up and was waiting for me.

I had no choice but to stop, cos the bloody twits had blocked nearly the entire road, but I did manage to lift the back nicely. So I sit there as the copper walks over trying to get the grin off my face before I'm forced to lift up my helmet and he sees me, turns out this bastard is a right amateur Hitler - he gave me a nice long talk about all the things he was going to do me for, then got on the radio and asked for a traffic unit to do a motorcycle inspection.

So I'm thinking I'm rather fucked, and after about 45 minutes of waiting a motorbike copper turns up, he talks to the other two - from what I could hear they were giving him all the details they wanted me done for - then the drive off and he comes over. At this point it wasn't looking too good, cos a motorbike copper will probably figure out the bike's de-restricted and the can isn't legal, etc.

Anyway, he comes over, gives me a nod, says "What a pair of wankers eh?" and tells me I can go, but not to fuck around too much or I'll attract the attention of more local do-gooders. Total top geezer, if not for him I would have been seriously roasted on her majesty's barbecue.

Thats the thing with motorbike cops, you know they do the same shit as us at the weekends so are much more likely to let you off with a warning then normal cops.

Closest ive ever come to being pulled over was hitting 80 on a stretch of the brighton road near coulsdon, anyone who knows the road its always jammed one way. This cop car turns on its lights about 100 meters in front of me stuck in the traffic going the other way, trys to do a u turn as he hasnt seen me, luckily he pulled back in to pull away just as i went past, i heard a ping letting me know how close it bloody was. Took the next left hand at way faster then i should have but he wasnt following me. off home for new pair of pants and to bend my rear indicator back into place.... Rolling Eyes

been 'chased' but not really a chase like u see on tv.
about 11pm on the a22 ,dark, doing a top speed run on a country a road, theres a little truck resting place at the side, flew past there, and then saw blue lights far back, i knew they would catch me as i can only do about 130ish, so i headed off down some unknown twisty roads that went a bit offroad then ended up back on the a22.

I'd never try and run if i had a police car behind me.

Worst i've done was some rather rapid riding past a police car, which put it's lights on and pulled out to chase me. I came up behind a line of stationary traffic about 50 meters after passing the police car and wrecklessly filtered to the front, away when the lights changed then down some random back streets.

The police car was blatently after me and was trying to get through the traffic to get to me be he only got past about 5 of the 40+ cars. I never heard anything about it so clearly he didnt see my plate. Whistle

If I was flagged by a copper, I'd pull over right away, not worth trying to outrun them - you'll never outrun a chopper and what's the point? I habe a spotless licence, despite of the way I like to ride my bike and I fully intend keeping it that way.

I thought the idea that they never see what you do on the bike - best way to avoid a confrontation is get your motorcycling kicks where you're not likely to get caught. Bypasses/motorways are notourious for copper watcing, and quite frankly, are straight, long and boring to speed on. 70mph in a 30 is irresponible and stupid. If you're using so much concentration on speeding and didn't notice a great big, glow in the dark bus-of-a-car with big flashing lights on top, you shouldn't be speeding in the first place.

-Rant over-
