Basically I need to know what tools I need to work on the clutch of an Aprillia RS125, also general maintainance tools as I'm popping over to B&Q at lunch to buy some!

(There's a problem with the clutch where the cable appears to be "stretching", me and housemate know nothing about mechanics, so should be fun)

Cheers lads,

T

from what i remember

u have to fish the cable and its tricky without taking the cover off

Hi

Pretty much as above. 6mm allen key I think (but just buy a metric set).

Chances are that what is happening is either the locknut is not done up in the adjuster in the centre of the clutch, or someone has made up a cable and the nipple is pulling off the end.

All the best

Keith

I'm hoping it's something like that and not the thread being screwed or likewise. God this Aprilia is a nightmare... but she'll be worth it Smile

Toby - you're on 'catch-engine-in-a-bowl' duty when I start unscrewing it...

i'm quite sure the allen key is a 5mm, the oil drain is a 6mm thought.

Cheers all, that bike is a lot of fun* to play with.

lol, yeah ill go with that, cable went on mine, could i get one for the weekend? NO! so i had to sit at home in the midle of nowhere all weekend til it arrived on monday, what a bastard! then had to take the engine cover off and do it all by hand, refitted, but cable was too tight etc, eventually got it and now i realise that somehow i have managed to tear the gasket, so that needs replacing cos oil is pouring out everywhere, went on a ride out today and used nearly a litre of castrols finest! ouch! plus powervalve has just died on me, wont shut off at low revs, new discs tyres and pads front and rear too, and exhaust blew 2weeks ago, so had to replace that, arg! has cost me 500quid in the last month! up until then it was running fine and cheaply, when i go to do my test on it and start advertising it everything goes wrong! would anyone recommend doin my test on an rs125? what would be the best bike to do it on? i went to do my test on thursday but they turned me away cos my speedo is in kph not mph, there was a lot of swearing at the DSA test centre on thursday morning! lol
