I was out at the weekend with a lot of police presence, (see off topic post) I was riding in and out of town and in a bike park I spotted a Kwak ZX4R. He was parked up when I went past but obviously leaving, he pulled up next to me down the road and commented on my bike (It was looking good).
I guess he wanted a play so we rallied around for a bit and he shouted at the lights “Dual Carriage way!?” We went out to the carriage way and I knew what he was thinking, we were at the lights, carried on around the roundabout and then exited together at the same time. We levelled and then I saw him cain the throttle back, so I followed, he dipped the clutch, I didn’t have to. Is this the same with most 4R’S? The thing seemed to top out ok, maybe 5+mph less but lower down the thing didn’t stand a chance.

Is yours a VFR400?

If so, will have a bit more lower down grunt, maybe till 60, then the talented ZXRs riders will whoop-ya-ass Razz

ZXR's will be faster than VFR's in a straight line providing a decent enough rider on both of them and they are both standard.

Not on about riding skill, he wanted to see if his was fast.
His was de-restricted, my VFR is the same, I slaughtered it yet you say it should beat it in a straight line.
I had to slow down for him.

Before I got the VFR I was in a pickle about which 400 to get.
Just wondered why people on here said it is a close thing, and it isn’t.

If the zxr he had was in decent nick then it would have beaten you in a striahgt line end of. Have you ever had yours dynod?? Shellshocks zxr puts out 61hp at the back wheel, thats just with an art end can. Wonder what yours put out.

It comes down to the rider most of the time...I just can't seem to turn the throttle of my zxr the way my boyfriend can...!

Also, he might have had a downpowered bike - mine runs at 57 standard, whereas the boyfs runs at 64 standard...makes a lot of difference!

Yeah, I guess there are a few factors which could mean mine has a little more power.
It just seemed incredibly under powered, he was a decent rider, in a straight line from 20+ to 130+ doesn’t take a lot of technique. Throttle back, head down.
I might get mine checked out.
