Nothing in the manual as far as i can see.

It might work along the lines of 'if one is fitted it must work'.

You do not need one for an MOT. If you have one that is faulty and are worried that it will fail on it, cover it up with some tape. Sorted.

yeh i've got one on their but I can't be bothered with looking for what wires go where on it to wire it up so i'll just cover the silly thing up like you say with tape.

Remember that the switch controls all the electrics on your bike. If you cover it up but dont bridge the gap between the wires that the switch would connect, nothing will work.....
