pendulum swing out on my scooter in the wet

I've just been out in the wet on my 250 scooter and got caught out by the back end swinging out and slipping. Cos I've been on bike for about a year now i corrected it before i realised what had happened. Then about 5 minutes later it happened again but a bit bigger.

Im glad i didnt learn on a scooter, as on my rs125, the only time the back wheel has slipped was on ice. Now i see why for my test i had to slow down for corners.

I still like the scooter but all that weight at the back is having a big pendulum effect. It only happened when 25mph doing 90degree corner, so I just need to watch it. I'll check the tread on the tire and I might stick to the rs125, in icy conditions. The scooter kept me nice and dry though.

I agree. You got to take corners much slower in the wet. If its a sharp corner, I slow down to 10mph, much safer. No need to speed in the wet.

Nah, go faster. Then the front should slip too. That way instead of an unsightly lowside, the entire bike will drift across the road and look cool, before regaining grip and carrying on your merry way. Thumbs Up

ok u guys may not believe its safe to go at 25mph round a corner on any bike in the wet, but believe it or not you can do it easy on a rs125.

on the scooter the back doesnt flick out too quick so its not too bad but i will obviously go slower in future in the wet round corners

I presume that's the speedo reading, not actual speed. You get small 90 degree corners, and large ones. I don't think it's too big a deal. Only time I've come off on a 90er is one on a hill, ground wasn't wet or dry but slightly greasy after a bit of drizzle.
