I just got my cagiva mito back from a service at the garage and it runs beatuifully. Everything is nice and lubed and it's all clean and stuff. It even goes quicker.

One thing that is different now is that once i shut the gas off after really opening her up she'll make a noise like a turbo does in a car, that sort of whistling sound.

Does anyone else get this? The techy garage guy said he had clean the air filter, could this be anything to do with it? Is it anything to worry about?

Cheers guys.

Is it at a certain RPM, my old RS used to whistle at 8k- 11k rpm, i just assumed it was the power valve.

sorry for the double post but if the airfilter is a foam element like the RS125 they're o.k to be cleaned out, if it was paper it wouldn't be.

It happens coming down from about 9 till 4k, i guess the reason i don't hear it on the way up is cous of the enigine noise.

cheers.

P.s. i don;t know whether it's foam or paper but i guess the mechanic knows what he's doing?!

Probably coming from the gearbox as you use it to scrub off speed. Wink

Sounds like it's just the airbox making the noise, I'd change the filter for a new one if I was you.
Whirring at high revs/under load usually means it's time for a rebuild as a bearing is usually on it's way out.

I heard turbos can't be fitted to 2-strokes. Is this true.

Also I wondered why 2 strokes and 4 strokes oils are sometimes reffered to as 2t and 4t? Surely 2s and 4s would be simpler?

The exhaust and inlet ports are opened and closed by the movement of the piston. Unfortunately, forced induction is impossible because the exhaust port is open at the same time as the inlet, and indeed closes last, so a load of the charge will blow straight through and out of the exhaust, meaning the benefits are lost altogether.

I had this after a major service, when changing down gears u can hear a really cool (imo) whirring sound, I think it might be to do with the gearbox - specially if you had the gearbox oil changed

hope this helps.

btw - the sounds gone now Sad
