Thought i would post this as the flip side to the bike withdrawal thread. Previously my bike was a toy, a sunny weekend would see me up at the crack of midday ready to go out for a blast.
Since i started commuting on the bike, and riding it everyday, the temptation to go out for blasts for no reason seems to be going.
Maybe it's familiarity breeding contempt.
Any suggestions?

I have that, I have got to the point where a bike is no longer fun to ride on the road anymore.

I was out yesterday on my bike, on a twisty country lane, and for some reason I was bored as hell.

I think you get so used to riding all the time, it becomes abit of a bore.

Change the style of bike. Try a supermotard or do some green laning. A friend of mine commuted every day, all year on an FZR600 for years and once he totted up too many points, he went for a supermotard and the grin factor came back. He now needs a car for commuting (sprog run) so the bike is being relagated to weekends and he's now considering a more off road bike for some dirty fun Smile

I own a car, but find rush hour traffic extremely frustrating!
Thought about going down the supermoto route last year, took a few out for tests. Whilst they were fun, i found their appeal a bit limited. For example, my daily commute is mainly dual carriageway with a short section of motorway, not ideal territory for a supermoto.

I don't have a problem at all - my bike's my only form of transport, I enjoy riding it for whatever reason. Gives me an excuse to clean it on a regular basis as well.

I generaly do prefer the bike.

But sometimes, cruising at 80 in the Mondeo, is so nice, cos its so quiet and relaxed.

I've used the car only once in the last month to go to work in, as I needed to bring home a computer.

I use my bike for everything really, I still have as much fun on it on the way to work and on sunday runs. Probably just depends on what bike your riding I guess or if you have a new bike you just genrally want to ride it every second of the day Very Happy

I alternate between bike and car for work depending on my plans for the day and can say, hand on heart that taking the bike to work in the morning is MILES more fun - filtering, overtaking, undertaking (safely Rolling Eyes ), getting to the front of a traffic light queue, accelerating away from them - all give me the grin factor that aren't apparant when I'm sat in the car behind a grotty Ford Transit belching out dirty fumes with 'I wish my wife was as dirty as this van' written in the grime on the back door.
