Looking at a 1991 Kawasaki ZZR400, ive been trying to get a decent quote for this bike, but i cant seem to find sites that actually list them... i get half way through the forms and find that they dont list the ZZR400, is this because they are grey imports? Are they infact grey imports? Does anyone know where i could get a quote for one? Or if they would be realy expensive for a 17year old with 1ncb ('cos aparently you cant start earning them until you are 17?) and no claims.

Also just OT slightly, anyone got any oppinions on these bikes? and anything i should look out for on a bike of 1991 origin? Laughing

Thumbs Up

Hiya,

Been looking at a 400 myself... asked quite a lot of people now and most say that what you'll spend on a 400 you'd probably end up spending on a 600 anyway, that goes for insurance too. I think a lotta insurance companies are a bit narrow-minded like that.. "it's a grey import, parts are hard to source" even tho that doesn't seem to be the case with a bit of internet hunting..

Dunno if that helps much but that's about all I know Very Happy

Ive been ringing all them 0800 numbers from the yellow pages. Bennet's wanted £450 where as ive got it down to £243 and thats with breakdown, other bikes & legal cover.

Takes some time to do but worth it in the end as 0800 numbers cost £0 to ring.

Everyone wants the cheapest quote possible, but there is no one number to ring to get it. I rang an insurance broker who gave someone here a TOP deal on there insurance, but when it came to mine as soon as they said the first number i said no thanks.

Ringing round is the best way, plus they can do it cheaper if you say 'if you can do better than that i'll have it now'.

good luck in your search Thumbs Up

I cant afford a 600 atm, but realy would like to move off the GS500 if possible. What are they like reliability wise? and for Parts?

Always use the phone mate. You can't negotiate with a form and most of them are willing to negotiate.

l sold my my 1993 E1 model ZZR600 for £850 with 50,000 miles on the clocks. theres bargains out there, just stay away from the D models which are on 1990-1992 plates with no air induction vent under the headlight there inferior to the 1993+ E models.

The ZZR6's can be picked up for the same price as the 4's usually. Just go by what tatters says because he's had a lot of experience with the ZZR's. Put it this way mate, I was getting cheap quotes for a ZZR6, aged 17, with 1 years NCB. Think I got a quote of 600 TPFT. Not bad at all really.

Shocked Nice video not...

Started off looking like some cheap homemade promo for the ZZR.
Ends up with matey trying to break earth's gravitational pull....

What happened? I have had a few Rsendout moments, due to too much throttle and not enough tyre warmth, but that was something else....

Anyone care to enlighten me?
