Not seen it myself, but I understand tha on a recent Top Gear episode The lovely Mr C commented that he would like to shoot a biker in the face, something to do with loud exhausts?

Well like I said, I don't watch Top Gear often and I happen to think Clarkson is an overpaid tosser with a very inflated sense of his own importance, but some friends of mine have taken serious exception to this remark, so much so that an on-line petition has been started to ask the BBC to sack him.

https://www.petitiononline.com/bikers8u/petition.html

My intention for posting the thread is twofold, firstly to give any of you who also feel strongly enough about his a chance to sign the petition, and secondly to ask is this man really worth all the fuss?

It's this kind of reaction that gives him the motivation to say these kind of things. I personally think he is quite funny.

I actually find him fairly amusing. I think too many people take him too seriously.

Yes he did say it during a debate about loud bikes:
https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=56612

He often makes stupid comments in relation to biking because Richard Hammond rides and they have to annoy each other constantly to keep the show interesting...

I've seen a few people get annoyed with this, but most don't seem to have actually watched the program. It was light-hearted and funny, me and my Dad were both laughing at the comments as he argued with the other presenters Smile

Clarkson loves controversy, the more petitions the better for him Razz

Most bikers hate cars, some car owners hate bikes. It's the way of the world im afraid.

Get. Rid.

It's not about lightening up bendy. Rolling Eyes

Used to like Top Gear when I was younger but gradually grown out of it due to the size of his ego. Think he's a very competitive chap, always has to have the last laugh.

I do appreciate his humour, but comments of that nature just go against the grain. Saying you want to kill people isn't okay in my book. Mostly he is hilarious, but sometimes he does take it too far. Of course he does it to generate a reaction, but there is a limit of decency, and I think he crossed it.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/ will get more of a response than a petition! Smile

No matter how many signatures or whatever they get, the BBC will never, ever sack clarkson.

He is a top class journalist and a good television presenter, which some very original ideas, worth a lot of money to the BBC.

If you take offence with what he said then you're stupid. Lighten up for christ's sake. He spent years moaning about the Vauxhall Vectra too, the owners of the vectra didn't feel the need to start a petition to sack him.

Car drivers would take it in their stride and laugh along, but because we're "bikers" we all have to unite and get all protective over our special bikes.

Stop taking it seriously - he's paid partly to make people laugh, it works. Stop taking everything to heart, not sure if it'll mean anything to you, but I can tell you now that he's not going to shoot you, ok?

Grow up and lighten up.

I think he's pretty funny. He's now an old man with back problems, I dont really see him hunting you down with a 12 bore just because you blew him off at a set of lights or anything.

Lighten up Thumbs Up

You know what... if you don't like it, go and do burnouts on his front lawn or organise a mass rideout past his house or something. A petition is just sooo feeble - roughty toughty bikers feeling a bit hard done by and all sitting at their keyboards moaning behind their nicknames. Rolling Eyes

Half of you here are normal decent folks. But two thirds it seems are mental.
This is a bike forum.
Why are we watching a CAR program?
And if they built bikes big enuf for J. C. I'm sure he'd have a BIKE show.
Be reasonable.
And he isn't a dummy, as as someone has said, I think he did V well at school.

I predict that either nothing'll happen or he'll take the piss about all the whining bikers when the new series airs in the autumn.

We already have an action group, well a couple really.

Shameless plug! But neither organisation appears bothered enough by Mr Clarkson's comments to issue any kind of statemet. Yet?

Clrakson has also said something about not caring about predestrains and being happy to run the scum over, or something to that effect.

Personally, I think it's hard to justify programming like his character on Top Gear when they got rid of Angus Deaton for a little bit of the white stuff and a 'lady' Smile.
