As most of you know, i'm trying to sell my nsr, to get a bigger bike now that i've passed my test. But my problem is, what do i get? I know a lot of peopleask these same things about what sports 400/600 to get, whats the fastest this and that? But, i need to take more into consideration.
My next bike has to be reliable, student budgets are very tight, i will make 300 a month at most.
At the moment i have £600+ my bike to go towards a new machine. If i wait until next month, i may have 800+ my bike maybe a bit more.
I have my heart set on an sv650s, any model. But i don't think i can afford one.
I'm 18, i have 1 yrs NCB and i've only just passed my test a week ago. I'll be looking to insure whatever bike i get on TPF&T. At the moment for they year i'm paying 450 for the year. What kind of rises should i expect?
These are the bikes that i'm considering:

1999 SV650s
1998-2000 Fazer 600
FZR600 (foxeye model)
93+ FZR400
96-99 ZX6r (only because i love these bikes, i doubt so much i could afford, lol)
1990+ ZXR400
1990+ CBR400
1990+ VFR400
96-98 GSXR 600

I need help, as i want the best possibly value for my money that i can afford throughout ownership, not just buying it.
Tom

Being honest you'll have to save up for a few months more to afford most of your choices and the insurance. If you really fancy the SV, wait a bit to get the money together then go for it, no point in accepting an alternative that you probably won't like after a few weeks when the novelty of a bigger bike has worn off.
You're a student, do you live at home or away?, if you're away can you park it safe and secure? and some bikes suffer from being out in the elements all the time, Suzuki's aren't exactly the best for that.

It will be garaged, no problems with that, but insurance i could afford up to about 80 a month, (i'd do it in instalments) so i could do around 1000 for insurance by my extremely rough calculations.
