nabbed from my ebay ad, but before we get into that, and may i stress the following...... if you cant afford it, then please dont email/pm me telling me its too expensive, especially in this case, how willing would you be to drop the price if you have already lost over 2000 on it? with that said.. lets begin..
Right, this is a bit of a complicated one, but please bear with it.
You are looking at a 2002 Triumph Tiger 955i. I bought this bike in February this year it had around 19 000 miles on it then. The bike has a full Triumph service history.
On 14th May this year, whilst I was out for a ride, the chain snapped, every bikers worst nightmare, and for no apparent reason. The chain was probly due for changing given the mileage but at the time was still well within wear limits. Upon snapping, the chain destroyed the entire engine, it made a hole the size of a fist in the gearbox, and ripped the the casings snapped at pretty much every mounting.
The bike was sent to Triumph-ant Motorcycles https://www.triumph-ant.co.uk/ who specialise in re-conditioning triumph engines. They obtain used triumph engines, strip them down to the last nut and bolt then build them from the ground up with as many new parts as required. As my engine was in a bad way, pretty much everything was replaced. Brand new crank, bearings, pistons, rods etc. This new engine and fitting cost a total of £1500. Fitted at 23,300 miles approx.
It is currently in the process of being run in (approx 600 miles remaining till fully run in) the new owner will probly have to finish this running in process then change the oil and filter at the end, I have an oil filter and sump plug washer to supply with the bike. If i finish the running in before the bike is sold, then I will change the oil and filter myself. Triumph-ant motorcycles have provided the engine with a 3 month unlimited mileage warranty, from 4th August 2005. The bike has 12 months MOT (from July 26th) and the tax is valid until the end of January 2006.
The bike itself, as mentioned has a full service history, all original documentation, owners manual, service book, and the new style V5 document, an original tool kit and original keys that fit all the locks. When I bought the bike it had a Triumph Race Can fitted, I was promised the original by the dealer, but he never delivered. So it still has the race can and no original, it has passed the MOT with this can fitted. It's fruity but not offensively loud at all. The bike also incorporates an accesory socket for plugging in heating clothing etc.
Tyres:- the bike is fitted with metzler tourance tyres, the rear is becoming worn, but still has a good few thousand miles left in it, the front is mine. These are generally recommended as the best tyres for this bike, and I have had no scary moments on them.
Before the chain snapping, I had purchased a lot of official triumph accesories for the bike, these are as follows:-
1)Triumph Heated Grips
2)Triumph Centre Stand
3)Triumph Taller Touring Screen (original supplied)
4)Triumph Full Ringbinded Workshop Manual
The bike is also supplied with a Givi E52 Topbox and mounting bracket, an absolutely top piece of kit, and worth quite a few hundred pounds, It has two keys. All these accesories total well over £500 worth of kit.
The condition of the bike is very good. There are no marks on the paintwork and I have never dropped the bike. There are some very slight scuffs on the bar ends and brush guards, credited to the previous owner. There is slight wind erosion on the leading edges of the bottom of the engine, but this has only removed part of the painted engine covering. The only sign of the chain accident is the chain guard which is cracked and I havent replaced, it still functions as a chain guard.
The pictures supplied with this ad, were taken when I bought the bike. If you require more detailed pictures, then please do not hesitate to email me and I will do my best to provide what ever you require. But there really isnt a lot to see on this bike that isnt standard. I have done my best to cover everything in the description but if you require any more information please contact me.
Test rides subject to full price cash deposit. Viewers very welcome by prior arrangement. Cash on collection or cheque (cleared before collection) only please. Buyer collects from Watford, Herts. Would consider local delivery to North London or South Herts area.
Thanks for looking!
