Booked a week off from work in hope to go away somewhere with my gf, but she can't get the week off. So, i've started thinking bout taking myself on a road-trip for a couple days around england.

I've trvalled before on my own, admittedly not on a motorcycle, but have no quarms about being on my own, getting a hotel, eating, repairs, etc. I'm not quite sure which routes to take and where exactly to go, but was wondering if anybody else has ever done a short trip around the UK, where they went, what they went to see etc. I've got about 7 days, but i dont think I could stay out that long without training myself.

Cheers
Chris

A great trip is to do North wales (take a couple of days to do the mountains), then into the lakes (again a few days to do the famous passes) and the last couple of days in the highlands (Fort william is a great base to get to all the best routes).

Not too much in the way of motorways and you'll see some on the best scenery and biking roads this country has to offer

Yep, you are very handy for both North Wales and the Lake District. You need to watch out for the Nazi traffic cops in Wales though. Highlands of Scotland have the best roads out of the lot but takes a bit more effort getting there.

What sort of bike do you ride?

I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles.

1994 CB500, restricted to 33BHP (doh...)

Yeh, i've been considering both of those (North wales, and Lake District) but not managed to have a look in any detail of what they have to offer. I have contemplated Scotland, but like ya say its just a little out of the way of me, probably not too far away though...

I dont know anybody in either country, so i'd be on my own for the whole ride (aside from meeting people along the way). Am a little worried about being on my own with breakdowns and stuff but it's been reliable so far...

I can recommend the highlands, be sure to hit them with a full tank of petrol though. Petrol stations can be a touch infrequent.
