Hi guys,

Anyone know how to remove the seat from a 2001 CG125? I can't figure out how to! Doesn't say in the manual either! Sad

Also, below the seat on the LHS of the bike, there is a small lock (Which my ignition key works in), this slides back a small pin about 15mm, so it's obviously not a helmet lock. What is it?

Thanks for the help,

Toby

If you take the sidepanels off you should get a more clear idea of how it comes off, some bolt on (my 76 model did) but i'm sure my 89model had a catch, it was somewhere away from the seat though... hmmmm...

Why do you want to take the seat off? just curiosity?

Feel all arround the underside of the seat, and the back of the bike, if theres no carch its a bolt jobby, for which you'll need the panels off anyway...

On the seat originaly there would be a link that attached to the seat, the small lock held this on, so the seat can't be taken off without the key... only o mine it was the helmet lock too... got a picture of it (perhaps its been buchered in the past?)

Because there's a toolkit in it apparently, and I would like to see what it comprises of.

OK, If it's the same as mine was...

You turn the key and the pin pops out... yep, that's the helmet lock. I know... it's crap

Try turning the key the other way!! That's how my seat released!

I never found a tool kit though!

If its still in there... A slection of open end spanners, horriblely cheep and nasty 6side closed spanner, a handle for them (two i think) a screwdriver type thing, a pair of cheepo pliers, and thats about your lot (unless your very lucky and it'll have a tyre guage)...

Appart from the spanners to adjust your chain they aren't much use tbh, better off with an aa card Razz

Like i said, if you (carefully) take the panels off you'll be able to see if its bolted, if its not you'll be able to find the mechanism easyer anyway..

If you're lucky, it'll have a spark plug spanner. I've been making do with a 11/16" ring spanner for the past year seeing as some scrote stole my toolkit from its "steal me" box underneath the airbox. Neutral

Tiger: So turning it the other way unfastened the seat?

WTF? How are you supposed to attach a helmet to that? By the chinstrap? :S

Yeah I'll have a look, the guy that sold it to me had been riding for 20 years and the bike is absolutely immaculate so I'm hoping he has put in some goodies of his own Smile

I never figured out how to get a helmet on that!!!! It's just about good enough to carry an emergency hula hoop. Just in case you get peckish!

Yep, not sure if turning the key the other way will work as yours if a different model to the one i had, but my new bike is a CG clone, and works in the same way.

Failing that... CROWBAR!!!

Old helmets were mostly D-ring type things, and didn't cost £400 so they did make allot of sense...

The caberg i've got now has a metal loop thing which i use on my elmit lock which i'll use if i'm leaveing it for a short time..

One thing it is worth haveing on a cg is a tiny can of wd40 for the spark plug... wait till it rains propperly heavy.

Fucking ace... Starting to get more confident which I'm not sure is a good or bad thing! I'm pulling away from lights much faster and I'm using my gears a lot better (My instructor told me that a bike engine isn't like a car engine and I'm not harming it by making it wail before I change! Anyone know if this is right?)

Other than that, yeah fine, I'm getting a bit worried by a problem I'm having when I move off from the lights, when I pull away sometimes there's a metal crunching sound, although I think this is my fault and not the bikes, could be letting the clutch out too quick.
