A spot I know has a Scamra Van bloody caught me, I have no idea how, and I always see it!!
So I was doing 60 in a 50 FFS.

What do I do guys, any way of getting out of this one, or do I have to sign and get points?
I haven’t read the letter yet. It was posted to my old dears’ house.

Cheers

KillA

Check all the details on the letter are correct. Road, Time, Date, Registration etc.

To be honest though, is there any point trying to get out of it. Likely you'll only get 3 points and £60 fine. Which you can probably pay by post.

3 points doesn't tend to effect insurance, unless its on-top of others of course, and £60 fine isn't that much.

Tell them you'd a hang over and throw yourself on the mercy of the courts.
60 in a 50. Were you looking at the speedo?
It may only be 55 you were measured at. Not a jail sentence.
Both my bikes speedos show 10% to the fast side. And my car at work too. My old BMr shows bang on though. All checked and double-checked using GPS

We can't 'not sign' up here in Jockland as I believe the filf would come round and take all your furniture away if you don't pay fines.
Mrs Thatcher to thank for dragging that old chestnut up from out of the middle ages. (Long life Mrs. T. you Beeatch.)

Hi

Try reading up on Peppipoo (but be careful that what you write does not make it obvious who you are).

There are possibly ways round it as legally they are asking you for a confession but have not cautioned you as they are required to do by the Police And Criminal Evidence act.

All the best

Keith

Cheers for the info guys, can’t believe I was caught in the most obvious place, when I have been on a week holiday all over the place!
Dam pigs.

If you seriously want to have a decent chance to contest it, I'd get a solicitor onto it.

I've got insurance so if I get caught speeding, I show my insurance company and they'll look into it and contest it if there's anyway out. Smile

Or... you could just admit that you were speeding (you were), and pay the fine, and take your punishment.

It is the law after all.

Your mistake wasn't speeding, it was getting caught.

Unlucky.

Thanks for the info for the law on speeding Jon, yeah seems it’s still there. Rolling Eyes Thumbs Up

I’m used to your jokes now, so tame I think your serious.

No offence

Just asking if there are still ways of getting around a small offence, like that one where you don’t sign and send it back, worked for a few people didn’t it.
I dont mind paying, just rather not.

For fucks sake, he was being genuine.

You got caught speeding, theres no way you can get out of it, so pay the fine and take the points or go to court and just get the same result but with more costs to pay.

You fucked up, now take the consequences.

Also the law that they need to have cautioned you before they demand evidence to incriminate you. As such you can possibly quite legally get round the points and fine.

My dodgy spelling for https://www.pepipoo.com .

They closed the loophole about not paying, but there are others. For example the notice they have sent you must be posted to normally arrive within 14 days (so check the postmark on the envelope), and it must be posted first class, so if not then it is invalid. There are also all sorts of other issues, such as the legal authority of those who sent the forms.

All the best

Keith

Why should he if the scamera operators have fucked up?

Although going to court will cost you more if you are found guilty (and more than likely you will) it does have the plus point that the scamera partnership cannot claim that money back.

All the best

About 3 years ago I got flashed doing 84mph in a 60mph zone by a mobile camera unit. The fine arrived in the post. The reminder arrived in the post. I put them to one side and forgot about them. Seems they forgot about me, have heard nowt more from them.

Shaun, there is ways of getting out of almost anything, why not try it.
I have 3 points on there now, I posted on here because if someone came up with a plan, I’d do it.

Cheers for the info Keith, there is a lot to read but I think I might be getting the jist of it.

Been on holiday, so a lot of riding, must have been then.

If you already have 3 points and get another 3 if you have had your full licence for less than 2 years you will have it taken off you.

You were thinking of selling your bike at that time, so you can't be sure of who was riding it. Write back for photographic evidence so you can help to identify the rider. Be polite and helpful. It works. Very Happy

Yeah I have had the licence less than 2 years. It’ll probably go then. FFS.
I thought about this….
I’m going down with a fight, I’m gonna play some GTA and get some ideas.
I think I’m fucked.

I should have added that after they provide you with photographic evidence, you still unfortunately won't be able to identify which of the potential purchasers it was...

It worked for my best friend Wink not long ago. He sent the first form back unsigned with a letter explaining the situation. They then sent a second form, which he signed but where it asks for the identity of the driver he wrote 'Please see attached letter'. They didn't even come back with a photograph, just wrote back saying they wouldn't be taking it any further.

My mate got away with a ticket by asking for photgraphic evidence!! He said that he'd recently lost his plate aswell and had to buy another one! (which was actually true!) Worth a try, failing that i'll give you £750 for the VFR!!
