Are you spraying from a can or from a air gun?

Infact the same applies to both. If you are spraying from a can put at least 2 coats on firstly and sand between each one gently to get rid of any imperfections. Then spray a final coat on and sand it down with the finest paper you can get. I used 2000grit on mine with soap to make it even less rough. You will need to buff it after and that can take some time and effort but it really depends on what sort of finish you want.... a good finish with a can will take time but is achevable. If you are using the proper equipment you may not need to sand anything.

Thanks alot that has helped greatly. and i am using a spray gun, not an aerosol.
Other than priming the panels this is the first time i have ever used a spraygun and really didnt want to screw the job up, but you have helped alot.

Thanks

I'd go with 2 wet coats, no sanding between needed unless ya drop em in the dirt, just nib out any little blobs etc, no need to sand the whole part. Quick rub down with red scotchbrite pad & shoot the 3rd coat. Leave the part alone for at least 48 hours & then buff it out.
Ya do know how to set up a gun I assume? What kind ya using?

If my brother knew I had a motorbike I would have sent some panels to him to be sprayed, as he's been in the business for about 15 years now Sad

Depends on the paint, some have to be sprayed with a few minutes or up to 24 hours. If it's a few days I'd just lightly scuff it with some scotchbrite.

You do need to make sure you have the air gun set up right.... You need a filter and a water trap otherwise you will get little blobs all over your paint....

Just remember the paint needs something to grip onto, so if the finish is smooth, rub it with something like what ZRX61 suggested.
