Well good folks of BCF, it being a week to go, I was hoping some of you good people could recommend any nice, biker areas that I could stop in/see whilst out on my mini tour.

I am leaving next Saturday (27th Aug) and will first head to BRNO for the MotoGP. After that, I want to head in roughly the direction of Greece. I've no real plans, so any ideas would be welcome. I'm going to get a lonely planet type thing, so mainly I am after some biker places (so I don't get too lonely).

I think from Greece I'm going to cross to Italy and ride back through france (have a friend in Montpellier), crossing the channel at Calais both times.

I really want to see Croatia again, and am curious about Germany, slovakia, hungary.

Also, I know a few of recently went to the nuremburg Ring, any ideas of a nice bike hotel there?

Thanks in advance all, in return for your kindness, I will bore you with blurry pictures and dull stories. Very Happy

How long are you going away for? I'm thinking of doing a trip to Greece next year and will look forward to reading all your dull stories and looking at your blurry pictures Cool

Interesting things to do?? Meet up with mee!!!

I depart for Spain on the 31st (August), riding down through France. Come back on the 20th of September. If you fancy a rendevous in Southern France or in Spain during those times, i'd be up for it. Maybe just for a drink one evening even.

You travelling alone? (I am).

It's the Nurburgring mate, in the village of Nurburg, by Koblenz. Best to get that straight before you end up in the wrong place Wink Loads of hotels there catering for bikers, I used the free campsite though.

Funny I was looking at how far it was from my house to Athens last night, according to viamichelin only 2100 miles - not too bad! Smile

If you're crossing the Austrian/Italian Alps from the Italian direction Lake Garda might be worth a look if you're passing close, huge fresh water lake.

I got the Lonely Planet Europe guide, pretty good though I didn't have room to pack it in the end. Sad

I only get 23 days off work (3 and a bit weeks) so its not a lot of time, but I manage to fit a fair bit in. I can recommend it to anyone. I've done this the last couple of years and really enjoyed it.

Nath - Sounds like a plan. Where are you gonna be around the 15th/16th? I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself, its best on your own. You get to choose where you go and when. Just remember to walk up and talk to people. You'd be surprised how easy it is. You may be travelling alone, but there are always people to meet.

Maurice - Sorry about that, I'm not good with names. Free campsite? I'll have some of that. Where? Website link? Do you have to book? Please tell me more. I have to get myself a lonely planet this weekend. I'm hoping they do one that covers all of eastern europe. I almost went to lake Garda last year, a friend also recommended it. If I get time, I'll def. have a look.

I'd recommend taking the ferry over to Corsica if you get chance (it leaves from Nice). I went earlier in the year and it was amazing:

also, behind Cannes is lake Verdon, in the Gorge de Verdon. Its beautiful. We rented kayaks and paddled up through the gorge. Here's some pics:

I don't think the campsite has a web address, if it did I'd be impressed as it doesn't even have a tap Wink

It's basically a field across the road from the circuit entrance that has an area set aside for camping, some tarmac etc. TBH if you're planning on going round the ring it's more convenient to get a hotel for the night as it saves you having to hide your luggage in the bushes Rolling Eyes

That lake by Cannes looks gorgeous Drooling
