This is by no means the right way, but here’s how I taught myself.
First, to get a feel for what happens when you wheelie, put the bike in second doing about 10mph, stand on 1 pillion peg, but kept your right foot over the brake pedal. Then opened her up, as it gets to about 9k if you pull the bars it will start to fill light on the front end, and may lift a fraction. That’s just to get you used to the feeling.
Next get up into say 4th and maintain say 5k, then open the throttle and pull in the clutch and let the revs shoot up, then at about 10.5k dump the clutch (i.e Instantly let go) the bike will surge forward, but no where near enough to lift the front end. However this will give you an idea for what will happen, and prepare you for the feeling that comes with dumping the clutch.
Now try it in 3rd at the same revs (ie. hold 5k - so you'll be doing at bit less speed) This time the surge will be a bit more significant, but keep doing it and you'll soon be more confident.
Now second, and you'll think "what the hell am I doing".
Final Step...get to 5k in first, pull the clutch in, rev the tits off it and dump... you'll either bottle it and release the clutch too slow, get it just right, or go flying of the back. Either way just make sure that if the front end does lift you keep the bars straight and true when you land, other wise it’s bye bye bike.
Oh, and make sure it’s on a quiet industrial est, and not down your street. Otherwise, not only could you upset the neighbours or get done for dangerous driving, but also someone else could end up getting hurt.
Good luck, but don't blame me if you end up in A & E. |
