what would be the best way to convert a household appliance to run from 12v's on the bike (only when your moving)?

What are the implications of drawing that power from the battery? Will it be alright so long as it's only used when moving forward thus charging the alternator at the same time?

Really depends what your planning on powering?

The simple way of doing it would be to get hold of an invertor, but I suspect you would seriously strain the generator on the bike. If your talking about low power devices such as phone chargers (use a car charger instead would be easier) or something that already has been transformed to 12v DC, shouldn't present too much of a problem.

But like I said, bike manufactures will only fit an alternator thats big enough to supply the bikes electronics at full load (e.g. headlight on main beam, brake lights on) plus a tiny bit more. So chances are it's not such a good idea.

lol, well kidney warmers I was thinking seen's as heated vests cost in the double zero figures and I have a few of these here knocking about that I find reeeeally good with the pain I get in my back/knee's. Be handy to have some heat on my back whilst on the bike when this weather finally kicks in:

I have a car seat warmer about 5 quid, 12vlt that plugs into a ciggy lighter
all you need to do is stick it under your leathers and but a auxilary socket for about 2 quid
im thinking of buing another one and getting it put under my seat cover. nothing better than roasted nuts in winter mate

where did u get that from can you remember? I could do with one of them. I have one that i've already cut up and wired in as I was planning to use the heater part inside it on each knee (lol my knee's are worst than my back). Works great actually but I need another one for my other knee now. Wondering wether hyper value or lidls might have them cheap.

I've got the massage part of the seat I took out aswell, the thought had crossed my mind when I was re-upholstering my seat of building that into the seat for the girlies when taking them pillion Rolling Eyes good job i'm not that smutty aint it Laughing Embarassed I didn't really fancy the idea of a heated seat seemed to me like all it would would be to make the rain on the seat warm and give you a warm wet soggy bum Mad
