(Bear with me, this is bike-related!)

How many of you are visited by the odd-sock fairy? She is at my house all the time, nicking socks from my washing machine then bringing them back months later when I have thrown away the "other" ..... got round it recently by only buying one style & colour of socks, but it has left me with approx 35 socks in a box upstairs, none of which match each other.... Shocked !

Anyway, the weather here today has been a bit odd. Warm, dry but very cloudy, although the forecast and the sky suggest it's going to clear up later. So I thought I'd do some cleaning and the odd maintenance job on the bike, you know, tension the chain, check the oil, polish the shiny bits etc etc.

Right, to the point! Odd socks (especially mens sports type ones) make brilliant bike cleaners! Sprayed with WD40 or Mr Sheen, or dabbed with Autosol, you can use them in a couple of ways to get to the really awkward bits!

A sock over the hand means you can do chain guard, engine casings, bars & clocks etc without cutting your fingers on any odd sharp bits, and you can reach all the fiddly bits with a finger quite nicely.

A sock held at either end and passed behind the exhausts, end can, fork legs, frame, shocker springs and swing arm really cleans up the bits you can't usually see or reach too!

So, if you are troubled by the odd sock fairy, foil her! Use your odd socks to clean your bike, you know it makes sense.... Very Happy
