my old ninja running hot

hey guys, i have been biking for about 20 yrs now. i recently purchased an '85 ninja 900R. this is my first bike with a radiator. i think i ran it hot one day because the seller told me to check the antifreeze so i check the resiviour, i did not know at the time that the radiator wasnt transfering between itself and the overflow. here is prob, i need a new radiator (need help finding one) and now i have an annoying knocking sound, possibly located on the right side of engine. anyone have ideas what the sound is and/or where i can get a new radiator for such an bike?

Are you sure you dont need a new thermostat? Check that first..

If your radiator needs replaceing it will cost you a similar ammount to have one refurbished, theres many radiator specialists will rebuild it for you...

Otherwise your best bet is a breakers.

The knocking, this isn't a good sign.. try useing some optimax and see if it dissapears... it could be one of a few things.. if it is "knocking" then your going to be spending allot of money getting it fixed (too much).

If you stuggle fixing these easyly then to be perfectly honest your going to be better off cuting your losses, brakeing the bike and moveing on..


EDIT: Duh (looked again)... If its running hot the knocking/pre-ignition, is a symptom of running hot, if you try useing optimax it might fix it till you can sort the rad
