PostPosted: 23:32 - 30 Aug 2005    Post subject: Major Load of Smoke From NSR125's Exhaust When It Starts! Reply with quote

This Is not a major problem to me but i realy just want to get to the bottom of it.

When i start my NSR 125 R in the morning, i let it sit for a while without any revs, then i rev it up for a little while to speed up the process of heating it up.

But a large load of smoke comes out of my exhaust and i dont have the slightest idea on what it could be. I thought it might have been not enough two stroke but i toped it up to the max but it still does it. Also thought it might be the Spark but the one that is in seem in good enough condition at the moment. ( i do have a honda guenuine part spark spare though incase it is that )

I would just like to know exactly what it is though?

bearing in mind its not had a service ever, and it is at 2500 miles at the moment.

Any help would be great?

thanks
Stuart

Cold day? Is it white or black smoke?

Two strokes smoke a lot when cold, add to that the condensation in the exhaust.

When it warms up you should have a nice haze of blue smoke, if it is pluming out white smoke when warm it could be a dead head gasket.

Hello mate just to let you know that i have exactly the same thing on my nsr in the morning but when it warms up it should stop pretty much. Does not sound like anything to worry about.

Cheers

In fact, if a two-stroke ever stops smoking, you've got big problems.

because if you are adjusted over the notches , you will use more oil than necessary and consequently you foul the barrel , cylinder and can . but mostly a smoky bike is due to a bad quality oil . however it's normal to have a little smoke when you start especially on choke but this must diseappear after 2 or 3 minutes

yes inside the pump cover it's 2 notches . you turn your throttle handle completly and you look if the notches are on line . otherwise you adjust with the adjuster cable .
