Can someone tell me how i find the size the ones on ebay say things like BSA D1 D3 D5 i dont understand it! help!

That is referring to specific ones for BSA bantam motorbikes (D1, D3 & D5 are diferent models of BSA bantam). The gaiters for them will be a) very narrow b) Imperial sizes and c) Very short.

You'll be wanting more modern ones, they are usually done on the diameter of the fork stanchions. Try busters, M&P or any moto-x shop.

for fork prtectors, these in my honest oppinion are a lot better.
Fork gators scratch your fork legs if you dont get a perfect seal,
these keep stuff from hitting the top of your fork leg and also you can check for scratches on the legs without having to fart about with the gaitors
