Ok dont flame me if this is in the forum somewhere i did do a quick search....

I have a GS500 `03 It has been running well for 6months or so. Over the last month it has started ticking when it warms it. Sounds like it could be related to the spark plugs as it is pretty rapid.

Looking at the spark plugs they dont look too healthy with a little corrosion, could this be the source of the noise. It is a little annoying that when i stop/ idle the noise goes away.

Any help would be good

Cheers

You will have to excuse my inexperience I used to tinker with my car but not any engine type stuff.

Can the valve clearances change just from riding the bike. It sounds a bit like the electric spark on a gas hob but quicker.

Yes, over a period of time, the distance in the valve clearences change - hence why major servicing usually requires them to be adjusted.

It may not be this though - just the first thing that came to mind.

Cheers thanks for the reply....

It has only just done 6000miles and the last service was don at about 5000. I would take it in to the garage but i am sure that they would fleece me for something that i didnt need.
