what to look for when buying a vid cam

right i want to look for a camcorder so i can get some mint vids of me and my mate on our bikes. Can anyone tell me what sort of spec to look for as i want a vid cam good to record fast flybys on good picture quality. what sort of price will i be looking at, i dont want some fancy stuff just somthink good and cheap that will do the job.

Make sure it has Video In as if you ever get a bullet cam or similar, you'll need this to connect it up.
