Right the time has come after having a Illegal quick spin of a ZXR 400 that i want one Very Happy basically just a feq Questions.

On average

How much will it cost me for theory, lessons, practical test?
And reference sources like books for helping?
And is it a wise time of year, bearing in mind winter is closing in to be doing lessons and going for my test?

I just need to get a bigger bike for commuting, and i really want something with a bit more go than my current cbr 125 and my previous NS etc.

Help very much appreciated Smile

First and foremost, a 400 will be cheaper, but they are slower, you will get bored of it more quickly than a 600. Not having passed my test yet, I daren't pass judgement, but I'm going for a 600.

For a 400 you can't get much better than the Kwak though. Thumbs Up

You have been riding a geared 125 for a while, so you won't need too much tuition. I would say 3 days intensive to be safe, you could also do them by the hour. You can look at that costing around £330, including your test.

Your theory test will be £42...? Something like that.

You don't really want to do your test in mid-winter in case it's icy, I would suggest any time up until mid November, and from mid February.

Any useful info in books etc will be on this site, have a hunt.

This is superb - https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=27360&highlight=test) - well done Slavo.

I passed my test about 6 months ago, it feels like 4 but hey never mind. I didnt have a 125 at all apart from the one I rode to do my CBT about year before my bike lessons. I did 2 hours a week which cost me about £40 each time and I passed my test about 2 months later ! in all I had about 16 hours training and that was having no experience apart from my CBT. so if you've been riding a geared 125 then I would say take your theory ASAP and then see if you can get hourly lessons.

and as for bike, I had lots of people telling me to get a 4 and lots telling me to get a 6, I went for the CBR 600 FR, its a lovely bike to ride, enough grunt to scare you at first but not enough to go absolutely mental on. I did my first track day on it yesterday and it was capable of way more than I could do on it so I think It will last me for a while yet. and I do think I would have got bored on a 400.
