Anyone know if there's anything I can get for my CG125 (New shape) to protect from wind?

Thanks,

Toby

I don't know if it'll make too much of a difference, but you can get a little fly screen for it.

You mean this shape?

https://www.honda.co.uk/mcStatic/en/picture/product/CG125/prd_bike_blue.gif

The version with the brake disk instead of two drums?

You can get generic screens for cruisers and whatnot, easy enough to get..

It might be ok for winter, i'd suggest getting brush gards first though if its stoping cold..

On a cg you wont need it all that much, it wont do the looks of the bike any favous :/

Busters might have them, hein gericke maybe.. £30 at the most...

TBH i'd try not to let it bother you, wait till you try a naked bike at 500cc speeds Razz Thumbs Up

yeah, mr.z has a point there...the wind on a naked 600 is what i would call scarey sometimes, and i thought the wind on my cg was bad.

To he honest, i have ridden a cg for 1200 miles and the wind is nothing compared to a bigger bike, just get used to it and thank your lucky stars you are not riding a big bike.

Thats not meant to be ckeeky by the way....I loved my cg....to bits.....

You cruel bugger Smile

I rode a CG125 myself before passing my test. And I can sympathise with Toby, because you really do get blown all over the place.

Personally, Toby, I'd say just ignore the wind. There's not an awful lot you can do about it. The CG is a lovely, but lightweight bike, so you're bound to get blown about a bit - just the same as I did.

From my own experience (and a lot of 'big' bikers will tell you the same), just relax your grip on the bars and let the bike find its' own balancing point. Counter-steer the bike into the wind by all means. It's a bit frightening at first, but it works perfectly so long as you do it gently.

My guess is that you're actually trying to control the bike by force yourself when it gets windy - tight grip, harsh steering and getting very nervous, almost to the point of being scared (the latter probably being the most prominent - yes?).

Just relax more. You won't fall off and you won't be blown off. It might feel like it, but you won't. You just need to learn how to control your bike gently, but firmly in such situations.

You will get the hang of it.

Hope this helps a bit Wink

I remember going on my das and getting on the ER-5 and feeling like my head was being torn off (but was to busy laughing manicly to notice)

EDIT: Have a look at the rideing tips in my sig, the "windy rideing" section..

ALso, any faring you can get for a cg will attach tot eh handlebars, the wind will REALLY fook up the handleing on a bike that light, it will be wiggleing allover the place Shocked

I had a CG of the shape I think your talking about, I never saw anything really, but you soon get used to it. MY problem was i do a lot of riding on country roads and go from a lot of cover each side of me to open fields. Your fine one minute, then just get slapped sideways. It really wakes you up! Just stick with it, you soon learn to react to the conditions with no real thought about it.

Must find a non noisy helmet! Gotta top my oil up tonight too! (Previous owner doesn't know what's in it so I'm going to buy 10w40 Castrol and put that in Very Happy )

FWIW I agree with other posts that the CG doesn't really warrant any protection/screen. However, I do believe Hein Gericke do (or did) a flyscreen that can be fitted so it looks ok.

I didn't realise the CG was that old...just as well you didn't get hooked on really fast naked bikes that can do 90mph like that Lawrence of Arabia chappie Very Happy

FWIW I do know the Superior could be over the ton, one of the first production bikes that could achieve this.

Remember, it's a CG! It's built like a bomb shelter, and just as tough. If your topping the oil up it should run fine on this!

Toby R i'd say the wind against you would be something you would actually miss if you found some kind of nose fairing to push it aside.

125's don't really go quick enough to need any wind protection and the extra wind in your face makes you feel like your going a little faster I find.

I've been on a CG for several hours doing my test and training and they are lovely little bikes. Nice in so many ways, but something I would definately not want to do any kind of modifications to!

Hi,

I see your point needing the wind, keeps me cool anyway sometimes! Smile

Tribal: I will be selling it when I come to pass my test anyway, figure a couple of reciepts for £30 odd worth of oil won't harm to show prospective buyers Smile

Just because I can live on kebabs and crisps doesn't mean I'm not going to spend extra and have some steak Wink

Castrol gtx will be more than fine, DO NOT use semi/fully synthetic! it wont do the clutch any good...

Don't forget to keep your chain oiled and adjust, thats about all your ever going to need to do with the cg!
