I hate the new ones there god awful (no offence to who owns them) My dad has decided to get one in red or a sv 650, to get back and fourth to work.
But i saw a older one at the place we hang out the guy started talking to us it was a 83 or 84 gs 1100. It made the shop shake it was a monster!!
Any one got any info on these bad boys he also said they come in 750 as well. And what happend to this bike being such a monster it really tame now in comparison. Any body own a new one or even an old one wanna share your experiance.

I thought the Katana was an 1980s sports bike, which Suzuki then soiled the name of by giving it to a Scooter?
Edit: Reread, great bikes, I love 'em. ____________________ TheShaggyDA: I've got 3 or 4 pairs that predate my wife, so at least 11.5 years old. |

It was groundbrakeing at the time, one of the fist real sports bikes as we know them...
Did think about geting one, apparently great bikes..
Trouble is they will leave allot to be desired in handleing and power stakes compared to modern bikes..
My cx is pretty meaty sounding seeing as acceptable noise levels have gone down over time, its got a standard can thats not drowned out by a straight through 400s...
But then ever heared an old norton, back when men were men and exhausts were modified drainpipes. ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

Hi
The original 1000 and 1100 were great bikes by most accounts. The 1100 had CV carbs, the 1000 was a homologation special with slide carbs. Apparently they only recently stopped selling them in Japan.
The 750 with the pop up headlight was one good idea of Suzuki trying to make a different bike.
The rest were pretty much stodge with the Katana named slapped on them to try and offload a few. The 650 would manage about 125 in reality, with even the proper 1000/1100 only managing around 140 in reality (although the engines can be tuned to stupid levels).
All the best

Anyone here see the MCN auction for a Katana? It was brand new, still in the crate! I loved them as a kid, probably coz of the Martial Arts connection. ____________________ Space Monkey #7
