er...ok but i was more thinking someone who knew a bit about them, might have something to say about the bikes.

so far, from google i have learned that the fork seals can be dodgy and fuel economy is 35mpg at best but my rs125gets me 30mpg.

I think it runs rich and jets arrived today, so I'm gonna change from 165 to 155.

Hi

My RS averages 55mpg, so no idea how you are using that much fuel. And as standard it runs fairly rich anyway.

As to the FZR it uses basically the old FZ750 engine. Tough as old boots generally. Clutch slave cylinders can leak (easy and cheap enough to fix). Bearing behind the front sprocket can go if the chain is overtightened. Bearing is cheap, complete engine strip to replace it isn't. Valves need adjusting once in a blue moon (28000 miles on the 750, thing a bit more often on the 1000). EXUP valves have a habit of seizing. Same engine as the Bimota and that does 30~40mpg. Expect the brake calipers to seize up at some point. Starter clutch can wear out and again that requires a complete engine strip to replace (down side of a narrow engine with the starter and alternator piggy backed behind the barrels). Clutch is no that nice.

Not a slow bike.

All the best

Keith

great
tough as old boots and 30-40mpg in particular make it sound great as i had been thinking it might be more like 20mpg

as its getting dark at 8 these days, i might leave it until march to get another bike, as it might not get enough use if im working in the day and weekends are wth girlfriend.

i could get a scooter and an fzr1000 for the price of a 400 or a 600, so it cd be a good plan if i keep my rs125 too

Hi

That board is for the Fazer 1000, not the FZR1000.

Winter is probably a good time to go bike hunting if you are in no hurry. Less choice but lower prices. Just take your time. By the way, suspect the gearing is the same as the Bimota so expect 1st gear to be good for about 75mph with the engine coming on song in top around 120mph.

All the best

Keith
