Yamaha R46...Limited edition?

Hi.

Im loving the R46, and I am very tempted to purchase one.
I was just wondering if they will be around to buy for a while? As I have to get things sorted in the next few weeks, with me starting my army training, and stuff.

Does anybody know much about it?

They are just std r6's with a paint jobby which is supposed to be partly designed by Rossi, or his dog....something like that.

I was in the dealers at the weekend and he has only sold 2 in total.

His expression was "about as popular as double seater coffins" He laughed and said if it gets anywhere near having to discount them too much they will purchase new bodywork and sell them as a standard R6.

They just arent popular. hardly surprising as they look as if someone has crashed into a paint factory.

Yeah i just cant get the Gixxer bug outta my system. I think im getting a good deal considering my bike has 2300miles on it rounded up. and im getting an 05 for like $500 and im not coming outta pocket really just $500 i loose no profit on the yam but make on it so

i paid 6k for r6 and getting 6500 for trade in Not sure on colour yet.

I read the review in MCN and wasn't convinced. I don't even like the new R6s these days, so maybe I'm a bit biased. All it seems to be is some tacky marketing ploy to sell 'limited' numbers of R6 - yet the only real difference is the paintjob (which I think looks tat anyway). If it was coloured like the 50th Anniversary R1 (in Roberts Yellow - but I'd prefer a blue or red one ) then maybe they'd be on to something - if they made it limited with a polished frame, or lightweight wheels, or even an exhaust system.

Just seems like a half arsed attempt to shunt out some more R6 sales.

Red and white is the oly colour to have any of the r series in my opinion. My favourite of the range is the R reg R1 in Read and white with YZF in red on the side! (I just sex wee'd describing it)

Correct me if I'm wrong, don't watch Superbikes, but isn't 46 Rossi's number? It sounds like a complete sell-out by him, and Yamaha cashing in on 'Rossi fever'.

This bike would be ideal for rich wankers who wouldn't ride it as like the Ferrari Enzo to a lesser extent, in 20 years it will be worth a lot.
