 |
|
Well, its not arrived yet? I emailed the DVLA and they told me they never received the V5 from the previous owner and I was told to fill out a V62 and send off the V5/2 (the rip-off part the new owner takes) and submit that....
I also phoned the guy again and he assures me its been sent and told me he would look and phone me back, still waiting on this phone call 5 days later
Anyone ever had to fill one of these in? Just find it a bit odd that the DVLA have never received it and this guy ain't phoned back. ____________________ Old bikes >>> https://www.bikepics.com/members/cc123/ |

DVLA say to allow six weeks from signing the V5 to getting the new one.
As you say, if you haven't heard by then you can fill in a V62 (download https://www.dvla.gov.uk/forms/pdf/V62online.pdf), attach the 'new keeper' part, and send it to DVLA (there's no fee if you have the tear-off slip). This itself takes a while, because they have to check with the previous keeper.
When I bought my last bike it took about seven weeks for the V5C to arrive - it turned up in the post the day I sent the V62, so the two had crossed.
It's only a problem for you if
a) You want to sell the bike (buyers like to have the V5C)
b) You need to tax it. The tear-off slip is valid for tax purposes for two months. |

Not selling it and its taxed for 9 months but would be nice to have this V5.
Don't want to send this V5/2 part off in case that goes missing too! Feckin DVLA, no good, my last bike they sent me the new V5 and also sent a new V5 to the previous owner as well!! So would the 2 of us get done for speeding?? ____________________ Old bikes >>> https://www.bikepics.com/members/cc123/ |

I waited for two months for nothing to arrive.
Two emails and one returned phone call later, I realised I was still in possesion of the part the DVLA needed to process my V5.
Doh!!!
Sent that off pronto, 1 week later my new V5C turns up....
Maybe I was just a lucky minority. ____________________ Mungel
