Im planning on getting a 600cc in a couple of months time, Im looking at the CBR or the r6, not sure yet...

Does it make alot of difference restricting the bikes, I mean, I know it will effect top end as thats what its surposed to do... But will it make the acceleration all crappy to?

THANKS!

Compared to a full power 600 it will be crap, On the Dyno my ZX6R made 33BHP around 5,000rpm, so theres around 10,000rpm more going to waste.

Yeah is good if it is your first big bike getting used to the size and extra power but is ALOT of diference when you take them out, took mine out after a week as i was getting very annoyed when the power dies at about 8000 which is where all the power is and won't do much more than 105mph and takes some time getting there compared to the full power 600 , YOU WILL WANT TO TAKE THEM OUT !!!

See this will be the great thing about having to have it restricted and have a certificate. I can ride it restricted for a month, and get used to the thing without killing myself, and then when it annoys me I'll take them out, keep the certificate, and the bike can blow my mind all over again!

33bhp compared to 100-110 bhp full power 600 is a hell of alot and will be flat out at about 100mph or abit over compared to around 160.

My Bandit is restricted and damn, it is slow compared to a derestricted one.

I got beat by a Citroen Saxo VTS....

I have had the bike for around a month now so I think I will be taking the restrictors out soon.

The fastest I have been on it was 107mph (indicated) and that was down hill.

Well you are losing 2/3s of your BHP, don't expect more. You just better hope you don't get caught above 100MPH by the plod, or they'll have you for the restriction as well.

...not to mention riding without insurance. If you're bike isn't fast enough in a straightline take it somewhere where there's bends. Didn't have any problem during my probation period - taught me a thing or two when having to use a bike's other abilities to compensate for lack of go.

I'm going to get the restrictor and will probably take it out. However, I don't plan to be going too far above 100MPH anyway!

How does it affect low-end power - acceleration?

Affects acceleration ALOT as where the bike used to die at about 8000 it takes off probably getting the front wheel off the ground when accelerating hard

That's settled then, if there's one thing I want it's son-of-a-bitch acceleration for the Porsches. Cool

Years back i was easily able to waste a restricted cbr600 on my fully derestricted nsr125, msn did a feature a few weeks back and an rs125 toasted a fazer600 i believe.

Just spend a couple of weeks with the restrictors in then take them out and see how you like it (pick a dry day)

Only problem with taking the restrictor out means ur basicly un-insured and so if you end up killing someone you gona be paying debts for the rest of ur life, Am I right? Im pretty sure an insurance company will look at every nut and bolt to try and get out of paying 100's and 100's of pounds...

If you manage to kill someone on a bike then your most likely not going to be alive yourself so wont be a problem!

I wrote off said nsr125 and the only examination was an external one, worse comes the worse then get the bike taken back to your garage and refit the restrictors.

It won't come down to killing someone, but any accident where someone else is involved or the police are called out.

I didn't think it was worth it, did my 2 years, full unrestricted licence after and I reckon I'm better off because of it.
