NSR125 ~26BHP@132kg = 5.08
RS125 ~28BHP@115kg = 4.10
CBR400 33BHP@179kg = 5.42
ZXR400 33BHP@159kg = 4.82
VFR400 33BHP@170kg = 5.15

I'm not sure on the manufacture years of these but these are the weight figures I found from the web

Edit: I knew the NSRs were heavier than that Embarassed

Just remember, that lot's dry weight... Thumbs Up

Tbh, those times don't really matter, jsut so long as it'll hit 60 and get out of trouble when you need it to, you're sorted (which all of those bikes will do anyway.

Fecked that up didnt ya! Laughing
Those figures are in Kg per BHP, the other figures are right though Thumbs Up

So thats:

NSR125 ~26BHP@132kg = 0.19 bhp/kg
RS125 ~28BHP@115kg = 0.24 bhp/kg
CBR400 33BHP@179kg = 0.18 bhp/kg
ZXR400 33BHP@159kg = 0.20 bhp/kg
VFR400 33BHP@170kg = 0.19 bhp/kg

That however is just calculated off statistics which are no doubt optomistic.
Not much betwean the lot of them, but theres more to biking than speed alone. The light 125's and blown about alot and arn't good for high speed cruising. Reliability also isn't so good.

If its all out speed you want:

RGV250 33BHP@120kg = 0.275 bhp/kg

That's how they calculate them on Gran Turismo, so I've got used to seeing them in this fashion. The higher the number, the less oomph Laughing

and one thing that many overlook is the power to weight ratio limit that accompanies the 33bhp limit

extract from dvla website

25kW (33bhp) and a power-to-weight ratio not exceeding 0.16kW/kg

.......which is not much help as its in kw/kg

ZXR400 33BHP@159kg = 0.20 bhp/kg
VFR400 33BHP@170kg = 0.19 bhp/kg

1 horsepower [metric] = 0.7354988 kilowatt

NSR125 ~19.1kW@132kg = 0.145 kW/kg
RS125 ~20.5kW@115kg = 0.179 kW/kg
CBR400 24.2kW@179kg = 0.135 kW/kg
ZXR400 24.2kW@159kg = 0.153 kW/kg
VFR400 24.2kW@170kg = 0.142 kW/kg

So, if taken from their official figures, the RS125 is not legally allowed to be ridden on a restricted licence. However, their quoted weight is normally dry, and optimistic. Their power is probably quoted as at the crank, so you can knock off a few bhp getting it to the rear wheel.

As for the RGV250 24.2kW@120kg = 0.202 kW/kg, or full power,
42.3kW@120kg = 0.353 kW/kg! Twisted Evil 232 bhp per litre! Shocked

thanks guys.

Does anyone have those figures in bhp/ton.

My car is 110 bhp/ton so i'm hoping some of those bikes would be more than that. With so little weight they must be!

Karma to all!

There's 907.18 kg in a ton, so that now gives us:

NSR125 ~26BHP@132kg = 172.37 bhp/ton
RS125 ~28BHP@115kg = 217.12 bhp/ton
CBR400 33BHP@179kg = 163.29 bhp/ton
ZXR400 33BHP@159kg = 181.44 bhp/ton
VFR400 33BHP@170kg = 172.37 bhp/ton

All quite a bit more than your car then Laughing

cheers Fuzz.

From my searches on Poogle, the weight for the RS has come up as 114kg on some sites and 140kg on others.

Is 114kg the most accurate?

cheers

Id say maybe 114kg dry. 140kg with all the oils and a full tank maybe???
Remember there is the gearing to consider too so a 400 might be geared for 130mph or whatever and the RS125 is geared for about 95mph, you can easily change it, but just thought you should know. Wink

Hate to be a pedant, but did he mean ton, or tonne? The metric tonne is by far and away the most commonly used, and there are 1000kg in one of those. The short ton (normally just referred to as the ton) is commonly used in the States, it is 2000lb. The long ton, 2240 lb (1016.047kg), was used in the UK before the tonne came about.

I believe 114kg is the figure released for the 2005 bike.

Yes, but it's not exactly hard to convert bhp/kg into bhp/tonne Wink

70bhp out of an RD engine? the must have been played about with a fair bit! Thumbs Up

RGV's/RS's give about the same power: weight ratio as that Mito when standard. You can get up to 0.75bhp/kg out of them when their played about with but that makes them liable to pop at any moment

The only road legal bikes to get much better than that are those custom made RS500's and RGV500's Drooling
