I passed my test just yesterday and wanted to know which would be best. Can they both be restricted, would I save a lot on insurance on the 400, are they both as reliable, are servicing costs any different, are there any problems servicing the 400 as they are grey imports. Just want answers before buying because I have seen some much cheaper 400 bandits.
Thanks

I owned a Bandit 400 for 2 years (unrestricted), didn't think too much of it, it was just used as a commuter bike really. Quite fun though, reasonably quick, but nothing special.

With a restricted licence you can restrict anything you like, irrespective of capacity. Because of this I'd go for the 600. Would be easier to buy, get parts for, modify, etc, and then offer more power (over the 400) and enjoyment once the restrictors are out (after 2 years). Just a better long term buy really.
