Now ive herd on annother forum that Saint matt has had these same problems:
i was on my way to my GF's this evening and it was pissing it down with quite a stong head wind, anyway after about 30 mins of redeing the bike started making the most horrendus noise and lost ALL power (full throttle just to stop it stalling) and even then the od miss fire...i got alittle worried but it stoped, the at the top of her road it started again but didnt go away, it stalled at the top of her road i just managed to pull in infront of a white car who was obviousley alittle annoyed at me Middle Finger
it started again thankfully, but sounded like a tractor and was vibrateing to hell with no power what so ever!

as far as i can imagine the water has got to the plug on the front cylinder causing it to fire randomley or not at all. wich causes horrible vibration and no useable power at all (as its allready 33BHP)

what i want to know is if anyone else has had this problem and what youve done to correct it, im going to go into the dealer at some point and see if they can give any advice, but on the whole i believe that the colective knowladge on here may be more usefull...
thanks for any advise you can give...

Could be a problem with the HT coil.
That's what it was on my NSR when it suddenly decided to only start firing when it wanted to Confused .

I spoke to an ex-SV owner a little while back to had the same problem - cured by a fenda extenda.

I've always had one on mine and not had any problems even in torrential rain.

I've had exactly the same problem and I know it's a fairly common thing. A Fenda Extanda is what you want as the front fender is quite short so loads of spray can get onto the front cyclinder making it misfire. You can get an add on one for about £20 which you either screw on (as I did) or araldite on (which I wish I did). I think the newer pointy SVs have some sort of rubber flap to keep some of the water out, what model do you have? Putting something around the plug might be a good idea, I've read of people using vaseline but I just sprayed a load of the stuff that seals electrics, might be called Damp Start? Have a look over at https://forums.sv650.org/index.php and search for misfiring or fenda extenda to see the number of posts about this!
