Hi there, i thought i would share this with you. My import NSR was derestricted by my local honda dealer. all it involved was removing a wire. This one to be precise,

it was located somewhere beneath the tank.

Yes it is, depends how the bike was restricted. My bike was restricted by limiting the movement of the powervalve servo. There was no restrictions in the air intake like uk bikes. There may be a restriction in the exhaust still, i dont know cos i havent looked. But the bike feels significantly faster than it was.

That would make sense, it will give youy more power, but only at the top end.

I cannot beleive that it is the only way to derestrict them though, too easy, everybody will be doing it soon! how much did they charge you to do that then lol?

If you say over £20 im gonna laugh at you!

A lot of early jap 400's had a pink "restriction" wire. All you did was snip it.
If there is no regulation on how to restrict it they will make it easy to unrestrict it.

my mate has got the nsr 125 pictured in the top left of this page.
its a uk model and my god it is soooo slow.
its got absolutely no go at all and you have to ring its neck just to get anywhere.
his brother has the black 125 too and thats the same.
the problem seems to be the servo.
it doesnt work as standard, they just sit still.
we tried a few things like unplugging the light green wire to the servo which makes it move to half power and its slighly quicker.
what has to to done to get the servo working properly up to full power and turning back to low on tickover??
also what other restrictions have they got?
we found the one in the exhaust allready.

Hi,

UK spec bikes are restricted in the following:

Exhaust
Air intake (plate over inlet)
1 tooth missing off of front sprocket (loose acceleration, gain top speed)

Import bikes are restricted as follows:

CDI unit
Throttle slide restrictor ( so it isn't fully open)

Theres a derestriction guide on www.nsr125.com

Hope that helps
