also why do we wear leather anyway? surely theirs a stronger fabric out their that's abit more breathable and doesnt stick to you in the sun? Gotta be surely? it's not like leathers are cheap either.

Hi

There are also various man made fibres that can be used. Some of these have been used for racing in the past (not sure if still race legal).

From somewhere else I heard that a lot of what people regard as leather (for boots) is a material called Lorica (sp).

All the best

Keith

I'm a veggie have been for 17 years.

My gear is all textiles apart from the gloves, breathable Raven jacket and Hein Gericke textiles, some unknown make boots but they are not leather.

I'm not too strict on leather, I used to be ie would only wear man made shoes. I am not vegan, so I eat Milk & Cheese, Eggs etc.

But I don't eat anything with animal products, that includes Gelatine and renate. So chewy sweets are out.

Never eaten fish in 24 years, as its disgusting, nothing to do with being a veggie.

Watched that program again on the abatoir, other week, made me more sure.

Now of those of you who have seen me, I doubt many of you would put me down as a veggie.

My wife always gets given the veggie dish in the restaurant, even though I ordered it.

yeah I saw that prog about the slaughtering. worse thing was the people who work there! knobs

Anyway, I'm a veggie and have just bought 1st bike and textile kit but finding it hard to get boots. Ye some are lorica but mostly fancy "summer" boots which will just sit under my trousers so not much point (and they cost more).
Seen a cupla lorica boots but they have leather too. My instructor suggested Altberg? any good- worth a ride up to Richmond from Leeds (bearing in mind I aint got boots at the mo.!)

Ta for help, Kev

Leather looks and feels sexy to girls, (or on the fit ones) that's all.

im a veggie, have been for about 8 years, i wear leather though. partly cos i already had them, and partly cos i know that whatever the manufacturers all say, theres nothing better at all . though i dont eat meat, im pretty laid back on the whole thing, not as preachy and holier than thou about it as a lot of veggies, and dont even get me started on vegans Rolling Eyes i suppose you wear what you feel comforable in, wearing leather doesnt bother me, im not that anal about the whole thing. dont know why, and im sure there are other veggies about with different oppinions, as with food, i still cook meat, my mrs isn veggie, and im not going to tell her what she can eat, she enjoys a good steak so why would i stop her. i even had to pluck and gut a chicken for her last year, fucking hell, that made me retch! but she said it was tasty, and my mate shot it for her specially!!!
