Im after getting my 3 year old daughter a LT50 shape / size quad for Xmas? As anyone on here got one for their 3 year old. She is tall for her age. Just wondering if it'd be suitable or should I wait til next year. I want her to get into bikes, and not be scared of them, she does sit on my tank and I take her for a little ride into my garage, she loves it.

Also should I get a new one, I see them about for about £250, brand new? Or do I go second hand?
Thumbs Up

£250 brand new i would say.. at least she will be safer that way, i dont think its too young a friend of mine who works in a bike garage has his 4 year old riding long distance on the back of his r1 (i know its another year older) but i think the principal is the same plus he has a little off road bike. i say definately get it for her she will love it.

IMO quads are dangerous in the wrong hands, I thought a little off road bike would be better.
If one of those things lands on top of you that would be painful.

I'm thinking quad, one of the most unstable things when cornering I can imagine right now. Then I'm thinking 3 year old. Then I'm thinking responsible parent. Maybe just the way my mind works though Very Happy

Still, if you're got room for her to play with it that isn't a public road or park and you've come to terms with the fact she might get hurt then why not.

Personally, and you did ask for people's opinions, if you want her to get into bikes I'd wait another year and get something like the Yamaha PW50.

FWIW did a quick google for info on the LT50 and came across this site.

i agree with map about the PW50, but if she's quite tall for her age...why wait? great fun little bikes and are as people have said less dangerous than quads...i should know, i own a YFZ450 quad as well as a YZ125 dirtbike. i've flipped my quad a couple of times and it F***ING hurts!

The reason for me thinking a little quad, is because obviously she has never been on a bike before and they have the cut off remote and safety cord which can be pulled at anytime.
Yes I have a place where I can take her, which is a smooth field. No real chance of her hurting herself.
I am a responsible parent, and i think a bike would be too much. Maybe just a quad for a year until she gets the hang of it, then upto a bike like the PW50 for her mid next year or 2006 Xmas!
