|
|
Hi, I'm looking at getting an off road bike/super moto. Basically, I want something that'll be able to get my through winter, and I can drop and I don't have to worry about broken fairings etc. I was looking at this but I've been warned away, as it's an import, so parts apparently, will be excessive, and even my dealer couldn't find it in his little green price book. Can anyone say anything about that bike, or recommend other makes and models for me to look at?
I'm not bothered if it's two stroke or four stroke, as long as I can find one for around a grand, age no real matter for me.
Just to throw another question in, would a Supermoto with handle going accross a field and along beaches if it had off road tyres on it?
Thanks in advance! ____________________ TheShaggyDA: I've got 3 or 4 pairs that predate my wife, so at least 11.5 years old. |

Shouldn't be too difficult to find parts for it, a quick look on wemoto.com lists most consumables and the engine is the XT600 motor so no problem there. As for other bikes what are you looking to use it for, mostly on/off road?
Road tyres on supermoto wheels won't be that much use off road, they'll get you over hard ground but soft sand and mud you can forget about. Block pattern wets which tend to be quite a popular SM tyre choice would do better, but nowhere near as good as the original offroad wheels/tyres. ____________________ 3516 Miles, 11 Countries |

Mostly road use, but a big reason is to be able to go tearing through fields and sand. Would a second set of wheels be a good idea and fit road tyres to it, or would it be best to go for a supermoto and get a second set of wheels with knobbly tyres? Or am I trying to simplfy things too much?
Thanks for this, only ever had sports bikes til now. ____________________ TheShaggyDA: I've got 3 or 4 pairs that predate my wife, so at least 11.5 years old. |

I would highly recommend an XT600 (not that im biased ), it holds the road well and can handle a bit of off road too. I picked my 03 model up for £1800 with 9000 miles so you should get an earlier one for in and around £1k. Another plus is that unlike alot of other 'offroad/road' models, servicing costs can be kept quite low. |
